Cutty Florida skating.
Something about Shane always seems off for me. Skateboarding skills are brilliant. It’s the personality or lack thereof that has me raise an eyebrow.
I used to feel the same but that changed for some reason, can’t really explain why.
He seems incredibly nice/normal to me
Mate of mine is a big fan of him. He (Shane) gave him his board at the end of a Street League comp and he’s still stoked on that now.
Not sure to what extent this is a factor, but I’ve read a few things where he talked about having a sketchy unstable upbringing, but he’s quite cagey about it. Putting 2 and 2 together, I recon the way he comes across, guarded and not giving too much away, is probably linked to that.
Very entertaining and galaxy-brained skating from a 38 year old Netherlander. But I generally find Poetic Collective video’s a bit odd - the very sincere and serious vibe (quite a sad Eurthymics song) doesn’t match the goofiness of a lot of the skating!
Converse actually put something out! Rad, but short edit of people skating Florida. The shoe they’re all wearing is a bit honking.
Are skate shoes in a honking phase right now?
Feels like bad designs come around every few years.
Short answer - fuck yes.
Longer answer - everything is stinking with a few NB/iPath/Sole Tech (for me) exceptions.
Shoes have always been stinking. Progression is 99% stink. Even simple standards stunk. It took some fluke middle ground designs to become great.
It’s really good.
This is so fucking rad. It’s really amazing to see how effortless he’s made some utterly bonkers shit look over the past 20 years or so.
And the best part for me is that he’s not chasing any trends whatsoever. It’s impossible to date when most of these clips are shot unless you’ve been fervently following his output - he’s been wearing similar clothing for years and always in a pair of Janoskis, even his own shoe was like a Janoski 1.5
I’d put him in the same bracket as Busenitz or Kalis. Consistently doing their own thing, really fucking well and becoming successful as a result.
Hah, yep, it’s like Sketchers trying to do a Lakai Staple.
Village PM and Last Resort are just terrible, despite the skater-owned status.
Dunks, Swift 1.5, Busenitz, Westgates are my go-to choices
Couldn’t agree more, next time I’m skating I’ll be wearing a buttoned up shirt I think.
