Dunno I found it more cringeworthy than infuriating. I think the most annoying aspect though is they are to a degree successful. Hard to say if they would have got where they are if they weren’t total weapons but is that what it takes these days?
Lolled at that Myron guy talking about having another wife or whatever. When she was interviewed she was totally not up for it and he couldn’t talk his way out of it.
Something important overlooked here - The Director Of Photography was Niall Kenny. He spent a while as an N26 member and made a couple of skate videos.
He’s a damn good human, if the above didn’t tell you that already.
He’s in the doc, too - the guy running backwards on the beach, shooting.
Some could say any kids watching these bollocks manosphere videos could end up maladjusted ![]()
Just posted in the film thread and then realised that talk about it is in here.
Nail on the head talking about their belief in what they were saying. All of them had moments where they didn’t even understand or believe enough in the twaddle they are spouting to be able to construct a basic sentence about it. The America construction guy seemed like he was being forced to say it half the time!
Currently watching Paradise season 2. First season was alright, typical stuff ( without giving anything away) - season 2 though has been a massive leap in storytelling. Pretty much The Last of Us if it wasn’t shit and could tell a story
Been watching The Beauty on Disney plus.
Pretty interesting and off beat body horror…
It’s the weird brand of American TV that seems really afraid to show actual nudity involving genitals or nipples, but butt shots are mandatory ![]()
Started watching Giri/Haji last night on Netflix, after watching it first time around when it was on iPlayer a few years back.
Already two episodes in, was hooked again within the first minute. So good!
Malcolm in the Middle reboot. Really terrible.
Don’t bother.
Binged the first season of The Pitt in a week, holy shit that draws you in, keep having to remind myself that it’s 15 episodes are just one day
Nope, I fully disagree. I thought it was great fun. Over and done with in a couple of hours, loads of fan service which is what I’d expect from something like this.
Really?!?! To me it was missing everything that made Malcolm in the Middle a great show. The real comedy came from having the family together in one place but this reboot seemed to focus on each family member doing their own thing. The actors are still funny but the writing didn’t give the characters enough to do, especially as a family. As for the cheesy reunion style party……drudging up old characters for sentimental reasons just seemed lazy.
I’m probably reading way too much into it. I was just expecting something much better considering the line up of actors.
Valid points, but watching the original series again recently, the drama which created the comedy was usually tied to Lois and how she’d inevitably flip out on the rest of them and other situations happening to Hal.
In terms of actors, well, it’s just Hal and Lois (i think) who did other relatively high profile work - I don’t recall seeing Malcolm in anything else memorable, although he’s a Nascar driver now, living it right up.
I’ve nearly finished the first series and genuinely dont know what to make of it.
It’s good telly, it’s well made… I’m just not sure if there’s anything to actually like about watching it. You have to endure it really don’t you.
It’s remorselesly bleak, gets way bleaker and the hour by hour structure means it doesn’t have much to hold the whole thing together.
One thing it definitely does is give you another level of respect for doctors and nurses.
Just finished first 2 episodes of The Boys season 5 - funny
Just finished A knight of the 7 kingdoms. It’s a really great spinoff with a very simple story line about a knight entering a tournament. It’s funny and brutal. Excited for season 2 of that
I’m currently enjoying the ‘Scrubs’ reboot, and the new ‘The Burbs’ tv show starring Jack Whitehall. What have I become?
Jack Whitehall? Sorry to say but you’re done. Leave.
I know. I’m sorry.
Not good enough. I relinquish all cool Autechre stories from you. You are no longer the person who experienced them, they were experienced by your cool friend who you lost contact with after school.
This is your new life. We will never cross paths, as I do not frequent Wetherspoons.
But… but…
Please, I have more autechre stories
I also have a couple of Phil Oakey anecdotes and a short one about a guy who had a very minor role in Lost In Translation
Oh it’s no good is it. You’re right, I’ve fucked it. I’ll get my coat.
