Yeah I’ve been living with hens for 8 years (I know this sentence sounds weird but I don’t like the idea of owning animals…). A weasel sadly killed all my chooks in February but I’ve been Fort Knoxing the aviary since and I’m adopting 3 brown hens like those in your picture in ten days. Can’t wait.
Only being part serious but we got two new hens, Petal (named by my daughter) integrated well with the 3 we had before (Henrietta, Gloria Henniford and Dame Judi Hench) but Renzo (named after a double hard bastard) is ironically getting the shit kicked out of her. And Gloria keeps eating eggs unless we get in there the second they last which is a pain in the arse
Never had any problems with hens eating eggs but I know it’s not a rare thing. Are you sure they get all the calcium they need? Could explain why Renzo is getting the shit kicked out of her. It can take hens a while to establish a new pecking order, just make sure Renzo is in good shape. Try to give your hens crushed eggshells, crushed oyster shells or limestone grit for calcium.
