I was looking at Christmas decorations with my daughter (13) the other week. I pointed out the ones I liked, pretty much the minimal, tasteful ones. She rolled her eyes and said, ‘Wow, you’re so modern.’ It felt like that was the first time she had actually managed to burn me good, just the way she did it, while half not paying attention and looking at the ones she liked.

It’s a beautiful place. Worked there temping for Martin Dawes’ phone business (Carphone Warehouse?!) in the late 90’s for a short while. Memories of the bacon burger from BK….can remember the taste
