Total newbie - please help

Have only blown a pivot cup maybe twice, way over 30 years ago, and I think I had mismatched hangar/baseplate brands so geometry was out of whack.

Just occurred to me is there unfinished metal on the bit of truck that goes in there or something? Like a spiky bit?

I thought that too, but its on both of them so it would be really unlucky if i got 2 like that.

I couldnt SEE anything, but I’ll likely have them off again later to have a better look with a torch

Think you need to get your fingers in there.

WURP.

Same here. Bearing in mind this was back in the 80’s and riding cobbled together stuff was sort of normal - A complete Venture on the front and my back truck was a Venture hanger on a Thunder baseplate, (I don’t recall the reason why). The geometry difference meant there was a tiny amount of play and any time I landed, the hanger smacked into the bottom of the pivot cup thus wearing a hole in it. I didn’t bother to sort out the truck for a bit and ended up with a hole in the baseplate. Damn it, I then had to cough up a whole £11 for a new Venture.

I looked up Ridge skateboards - they make small cruisers with plastic decks similar to Penny boards. As others have said, pivot cups are normally almost indestructible - you could skate your whole life and never wear one out. So the fact that two sets have fallen apart after a couple of rides says something about the quality. And as everyone else says, I’d go to an actual skate shop and get a cheap but good kid’s board for my daughter, possibly with soft wheels if she’s going to be using it to ride to school.

The ones we got were the 27" boards. Honestly, they look decent quality for what i paid for them. I got their wooden one thats 27" and i do sort of love it. Its just these silly cups. I dont know whats wrong with them.
I really hope the ones ive bought from ebay stop the issue so i can get back to breaking my knees again.

Open to ideas of whats considered a good brand of board or wheels, im not sure if the typical “big” named brands are actually good or just good because they say they are.

I cant get my little finger in there, so im going to have to rely on a torch and my eyes. Maybe a bit of cottonwool (if its got any kind of sticky out bits the cottonwool is going to cling onto them)

Yeah, they look really bad. For postage can send you an old deck (Sour) and some old Ace classics. Just lying around so it’s all good. Would have to just add wheels and some bearings then you’ve got a pro level complete.

That’s an amazing offer @ZupBup

I’d take aces over Frankenstein cheapo trucks any day

That would be amazing, thank you so much. I dont know how this site works, but if theres a message function can you message me the costs.

Ive always loved classic looking wooden boards, so im pleased woth my board overall and my daughter is really comfortable riding her “big brother” Ridge (the shape just seems to suit her perfectly), and im not exactly rolling in money to upgrade and buy her the absolute best of everything (though i totally would if i could) so anything that can help her continue enjoying her board is welcomed.

Skated Aces since Rock Solid first distro’d them. Think we got the first drop at SS20. I don’t know why it hyped me to ride a truck since its inception and they are fucking good.

F4’s don’t die

Exactly man

Awesome, thank you. I joined the for yesterday so i cant dm anyone, so dm me if you can.
