So are they now Chicken Kyiv’s?
I think always were werent they?
You’ve seen the problem quinoa causes !
William Sitwell is a shitbag of the highest order and even he can do it.
They’re not so bad. Yeah they’ve killed kids but they left a tiny amount of bread for the family. Swings and fucking roundabouts m8.
Confused as to what this narrative is that he’s rallying against there.
Most of the soldiers don’t look like they have enough food for themselves, looting any shops they pass and wolfing it down as it looks like they haven’t eaten in a week when captured, let alone having 30 tons of it too hand out.
Despite the Click bait title, this video gives a good insight into what is going on:
44 mins for the prediction of exactly what is going on right now.
This was made 6 years ago.
That was really interesting. Ended up watching the whole thing. It does indicate why this is a war of sanctions and social media and not of air-strikes and men on the ground.
It also makes you realise how quickly this could escalate.
What it doesn’t really account for is what people who live in these countries think and feel. It is a pretty sad reflection on global politics that this is all about managing the actions and emotions of powerful men who are having dick swinging contests with each other.
Yeh I understand the point he’s making. Some of it looks quite prophetic too. I don’t understand the history of the region as well as I’d like so I might be generalising a bit.
But I can’t square Western nations’ and NATO’s behaviour with the repeated violations of international law by Putin: promoting separatists in Crimea, Georgia, Ukraine to justify armed conflicts of expansion. Neither NATO nor the EU are formally invading countries on Russia’s borders. They are not states. (Having said that their most prominent members have been involved in armed conflicts with pretty dubious justifications).
Then there is the documented targeted killing of enemies like Alexei Navalny and the instituted corruption of his government. There is a book that’s worth a read called ‘Red Notice’ by Bill Browder, a financial investor who ran Hermitage Capital and was at one point the largest foreign investor in Russian companies and assets. He details the lengths and various crimes that Putin and those linked to him have committed to prevent foreign companies benefitting from the significant asset price accumulation that took place when the Soviet Union collapsed.
He operates a criminal enterprise that has distorted not just Russia but Western Society more broadly. Just to take the UK, it’s hard to imagine the West End and Central London without Russian money inflating asset prices.
Edit: I actually shared the same video a week ago on this page and got quite a different reaction from posters on here
My friend and her family are in Kyiv right now, and are scared to leave their apartment. They are camped in their hallway along with their upstairs neighbour and her little girl. They are afraid of the rockets and advancing army, and afraid of the people that have been given guns to protect Kyiv. People have been killed on the streets after being mistaken for russian saboteurs. Some of those defending the city have been mistakenly firing on their own soldiers. It’s not safe to leave the house. There isnt law.
They feel that the West isnt really helping either because without air support, sending arms is just prolonging a losing battle that is only hurting the regular people living through it even further. They all feel that it isnt their war and that they are caught between two powers vying over influence in thier country.
Fuck Putin BTW I am by no means a fan, but I also think the West has been disingenuous too.
Sorry I’ve just properly read your comment. If you think the West has been ingenious by trying to get Russia’s neighbours to join NATO or that in any way NATO is trying to “invade” in order to strengthen their position then I feel like you’re buying into Putin’s rhetoric. The West isn’t doing shit to help right now, you’re right, but that’s because the only real thing the West can do be beyond basic aid is to wage war on Russia which would we definitely will not rush into
In other news, Putin’s tone has really changed in his latest public statement. He has become almost conciliatory and doesn’t sound anywhere near as firm in his stance or threats. Interesting. Perhaps bankrupting an entire country is bothering him
Can’t keep his nation fooled for much longer, especially with the troop death rate which is higher than the US lost in the whole of the Afghan conflict.
The West are also dropping in some pretty gnarly weaponry and ammo whenever they can. Keeping the Ukrainians topped up. Which I didn’t know they could do as they’re not involved with the war itself but apparently it’s cool.
Yeah I’m surprised Putin isn’t bringing this up. A lot of the first Iraq war was about US vs Russia and anger about who was arming who behind the scenes and its happening again now
“If you think the West has been ingenious by trying to get Russia’s neighbours to join NATO or that in any way NATO is trying to “invade” in order to strengthen their position then I feel like you’re buying into Putin’s rhetoric.”
I think the video I posted earlier in this thread addresses this. Not sure if you watched it?
That wasn’t a dig, I don’t see how anyone can lay blaim at the West for any of this without it playing up to Putin
