Reported in the reddit megathread that some Russian soldiers are surrendering in Ukraine. They were brought there without being told what was going on and donāt want to kill Ukrainians. Its reddit so pinch of salt but a nice thought

I had the weirdest conference call earlier. US, UK, Spain, Romania and Moldova staff all on. I have a TV next to me and see Moldova declaring a state of emergency at the time and yet Iām sat on this call and its like nothing is happening and people seem to be having a laugh. It was really fucking weird. At least one dude (Romanian) had set his background to the Ukrainian flag.
Killing Ukrainians will not sit well with a lot of Russians, they see them as their extended family and neighbours, ectā¦ the opposite of some evil oppressing power that justifies war.

This was without a doubt Russias choice and Russias fault. They moved in troops, lied about an exercise, they created false flags, blamed everyone else to allow people to assign nuance to aggression. Shortly after used violence to achieve their aims. They were not antagonized by the west, that is just being used as a veil to excuse their actions.
Putins a Brian, and tbh iām fairly sure you are too. I honestly dont understand why you feel it necessary to constantly play devils advocate to get some reaction, like some sort of sport.

Itās really hard to tell exactly whatās going on but a lot of the reports of the Russians strategies seem real stupid. They dropped paratroopers on Hostomel Airport far away from their frontline taking heavy anti aircraft fire. Ukraine immediately recaptured it because there was no support whatsoever
Imagine being a Russian soldier in that scenario, thatās a sucidie mission whichever way you look at it

Notice Corbyn et al had to take their names off a letter which seemed to outline a pretty similar hot take to Sotonjonās basically blaming NATO.
as upthread, the information around war cannot be trusted. People now are so used to having their say, magnifying the effect of the propaganda.
The realities of an actual asymmetric war are being revealed, scary shit.
