If you want to change it to how it was do this:

  1. Click your User Profile icon then go to Profile

  2. Then Preferences

  3. Then Interface

  4. Then change ‘Default Home Page’ to ‘Latest’

  5. Don’t forget to go to bottom and Save changes

  6. Remember to blame @nav

Sorry for over reacting. Ill try it for a dew days before switching back.

@KeithBeef tbh I should’ve tested it before just changing it, and then warned people what would happen.

Just like when I changed the forum over to this one because I thought the old ones (like Slap) were so outdated, everyone will hate it. Until they don’t.

NOOOOOO
we had this conversation before. Categorisation disperses users into areas and they ignore others making areas quieter. The way we have been having it makes everyone check every thread, even just to mark it read. The potential is that if people check a thread they might see something to contribute to. I scan the footy thread but if it was in it’s own category, i’d have no cause to and would not open it up. Same with other threads.

Although, this could work as it’s both layouts together. Latest can still be seen as usual and long hidden threads are more visible. hmmm, we’ll see.

If people don’t like it (which they won’t) I could just change it back.

I don’t mind it but I have to scroll like a mf on my phone

hahaha brilliant.

Glad I am not going to be at Dadlands to get lynched for this.

To be honest, I think it would be best for non logged in users primarily.

But also, in exploring the different views that Discourse offers… you can see the various new topics across different timeframes. Eg. UK Skateboarding Forum

We’re really quite an insular little community…

The new format briefly confused me upon waking, but you can literally just click the categories dropdown on the homepage and sort by latest - 2 clicks.

I do think arrange by category makes it slightly easier for new users

Down with categories. The long list has charm :ogre:

I don’t think theres the volume of active threads to need categorisation maybe?

Got it click multiple things to see the forum. It takes five times longer to check on threads. Not user friendly on phones. Utter arse on this way.

When you realise latest is on the right it works. Took a while for this slow brain. Can’t see that I’ll ever glance over to categories though. But you never know

Nice one cheers. Will it keep the new view on desktop or will have changed that as well.
