Video Camera/filming setup question

Just chiming in here as a GH user since the GH2. I love Panasonic menus and the cameras are rad. We use GH5ii’s on the podcast and I have a GH6 for filming skating [which doesnt happen much tbh]. I shoot 4k 120fps and use the mieke 3.5mm which is INSANLEY wide. I then crop it down [to get ride of the mad vig] in post 4:3 and its rad.

It’s more than good enough, and it’s free.

I think if you stump up $300 you get the whole Blackmagic Studio which is a pro level competitor for Adobe. Avoid Adobe as much as possible, unless you rely on it for your work.

The principles of using both programs are the same, they just have their own idiosyncrasies.

You don’t need to do that. Adobe sucks, too.

Stick with Resolve. If you find you like it, I’ve got code for the full studio version which came with my cameras if you want it.

Any code would be much appreciated thank you.

Tried to download the free version of Resolve onto my macbook pro but it said something about my operating system being incompatible or too old or something and need to update it somehow and I’m not very technical so need to go back and figure out how to do that.

Have a look at System Settings > General > Software Update and see what it offers you. Give me a shout when you’re all set up and I’ll dig it out later when I’m home.

Managed to get it to download resolve 18 cause my Macs too old to run anything after Monterey.

Obviously now I’m failing to upload my footage from my FS 5 Im sure I’m missing something really obvious.

You may be able to use Opencore Legacy Patcher to install a newer OS version

I’ve not used an FS5, but does it work the same way as a lot of Sony cameras whereby you need to copy across all of the metadata folders in order to capture the footage?

Yes you have to copy everything as far as I can tell. Managed to do that on adobe premiere before I cancelled it but not working on resolve. Managed to get the audio but not the video.

Yet another question. Can anyone recommend a decent LED light to use with the Sony FS5 for skate filming please ? ( assuming an LED would be my best option ?).

Thanks.

Have an LED Box style one. Does the job

what’s the make/model name please ?

This basically

Yeah any of the Amazon/ebay £30-40 ones are decent. I’ve used them for years
