Video Games

Yep, both are very rare games where I’m like ‘fuuuuuucccck…’ when they’re over. Whereby I went back to another play through of TLOU, with two I just felt drained. Possibly a covid lockdown impact on top but yeah, it just really wore me out emotionally. Dont get me started on the opener of TLOU now I’m the father of a young girl!

If you were going to get locked up for the rest of your life but you were allowed to bring in one game, what would you pick?

GTA5 I reckon

Either of The Last Of Us games. I pretty much carry out this scenario anyway, can’t get enough of them.

Do you mean the online version? Might be lonely on there in 40 odd years time.

Still never played these…

Warzone - got 3 wins back to back last night so I’m in a bias mood.

First game that comes to mind is Tetris.

Even though I don’t play it much anymore, probably Star Wars Battlefront 2. The newer, EA one. I feel like there’s enough variance between the single player and online modes that I could play a little bit most days and not get bored.

I could also pick Mass Effect Legendary Edition if that counts. I’ve never played the first game but the following two between them I racked up a good couple of hundred hours each and only had probably 2 playthroughs. Again there’s enough variance - Paragon/Renegade, different class types, good/bad endings, multiple combinations of surviving/dying characters - that I could eke out tonnes more life from it.

I love Life Is Strange enough to take it with me but if I was alone it’d destroy me emotionally too much, and it’s not really “gamey” enough.

Either of TLOU games as @jwdharris16 said. Complete masterpieces. The second might be a touch oppressive to experience in jail/gaol.

I never play online, just the campaign versions

Fucking love Mass Effect. Played through all three of the main trilogy multiple times.

Each one, I’ve played on regular difficulty as mostly Paragon, then the next difficulty up as a Renegade, then once the hardest setting was unlocked I’d play through again with a bit of both and carry that save over into the next game.

Without a doubt one of my favourite series. Does a really good job of getting you emotionally invested in your crew mates survival and the whole world just looks stunning.

Oh and the sound design is banging. I could hear the music when you’re looking around the galactic map just as I was typing this, haha.

Mass Effect 2 best game ever made

As a stand-alone experience it’s easily the best one, but the story choices in it cause ME3 to be a bit of a narrative mess if you break it down. Taking them each on their own merit though, and I’m more than willing to overlook their faults. I love the depth of the lore and, as you say, the sound design especially but the design in general.

Mass Effect Andromeda is also WAY better than anyone ever gave it credit for. The way the story ends is definitely set up for sequels or DLC and the (in my opinion) unfair backlash against it just kiboshed any hopes of it continuing. In fairness I didn’t play it until it’d been patched several times, a year or more after release, so I could be getting a better view of it than when it first came out.

Been stuck at home a lot recently and been getting myself even more into SkaterXL… gotten to the point where I’m actively trying to “film” things in the game and put clips together. Kinda mortifyingly sad and geeky, but whatever :joy:

Correct this asap

Yep. Excellent. Very emotionally draining!

But if you were locked up with it for your only source if entertainment would that keep you going? Where would you go on it? Try and complete it one handed or something? I bet someone out there somewhere has tried that.

It took me months to complete just because I’d keep getting distracted walking about finding stuff. I already lost so much time to it that I thought at that point it’d be a good prison game to pass the years with

Modest Pelican recently started a new series playing on a modded GTA sever where all the characters are irl people doing role play - reckon that would keep you occupied for a good few years

Made some friends playing video games through covid. Played most nights for last 2 years. They came to visit us. Quite cool to meet people through the internet with a mutual interest. Much like some of us on here.

Lovely people.
