Blodney you plonker!

So you like and respect him, but you feel sorry for him because of his background?

These two videos are well worth a watch. He makes the excellent point that being rich doesn’t help you be good at skating. And he certainly seems to be keen to progress in all the things that take talent and work, rather than a cash loan from the family.

Exactly. It’s so fucking British to be bitter towards people who’ve been born into different circumstances, but our boy here fucked off from the posh school he was failing at anyway to go skate. He skated, then made some clothes. People took his picture along the way.

His clothes aren’t for me, but I’m not the target market. His skating is fucking great. And as has been long established, he’s a smart, nice humble dude who’s probably sick of being associated with his dad, whoever his dad is anyway.

Maybe I phrased that wrong. I mean that normal folk won’t let people with money succeed because they have already had a leg up so I feel for their plight, Some people can’t win everyone over. Not that it matters what normal folk think because they’ll potentially have success regardless.
I don’t feel “sorry” for him just I can see that it’s impossible for him or anyone to come across genuine.
I say all this with tongue in cheek, i’m aware of how ridiculously contradictory i’m being.

Agree, yeah, i’m not saying any of it with full conviction but it’s the reality of how some people can look at things

yeah, definitely a clumsy poster, you know that about me by now haha

me too and met amazing poor people and amazing rich people.

Pish. Normal person here, and I disagree. Maybe my grandparents would have been like that though, who knows?

‘Rich’ people still suffer with disease, alcoholism, depression and relationship problems. Doesn’t matter what car they’re driving.

I’ve never met Blondey and don’t really know that much about him.

I like his skating but his non skating output I find very difficult to watch and a bit cringe. All the beans on toast aesthetic and poetry and stuff is just a bit spew for me.

He’s pretty unique but I find people like Dylan or Evan Mock a bit more cool.

People dislike and mock blondey for a reason, jealousy and also because he’s a bit cringe.

Some of his opportunities haven’t come from just being good on skateboard and it would be naive to say they have and being around money hasn’t helped him open doors.

There is definitely a fine line to tread when talking from a place of privilege.

Disagree. You can’t buy yourself onto Palace and adidas.

I’m not sure how you’re finding these things in my posts to reply like that but I agree with your post.

Not comparing them to Blodney but they have an elevated level of exposure outside of skating like Blondey and are or were models and actors or whatever.

Same here, a game of two halves with him I’d say.

Yeh it was quite funny actually. It might be a good idea to interview other people to mix it up but it certainly wasn’t dull, I haven’t seen enough of his fashion stuff to have an opinion on that stuff. I’m curious to know what the high socks are about. Are they supposed to be breeks or hospital socks?

Sock thread anyone?

Nobody has mentioned his skating, I think we can all agree his skating is of a level to warrant his place whether we’re into it or not.
I was talking purely about why he felt he was in a position to be telling a moral jackanory about materialistic consumerism, to his followers even if I think his opinion was spot on.

Never said it did. There are things like working with Damien Hirst were being in the right circles and connections must of helped.

You’re making the (wrong) point that rich people have it easy.

A market place setup for £5 versus a £200+ custom complete might just give a little edge on someone when starting skating.

If you thinking money doesn’t give you a little headstart ya tripping

I always mention his skating and just mentioned it again five minutes ago.
