My van is on about 100k and hasn’t had any problems.

Yeah, they’re definitely not there yet. The van is a camper so longer trips, also it’s fairly big and heavy. I feel like a battery breakthrough is needed to make them practical for anything except local delivery vans really. It’ll be great when they are though, having a camper with a massive battery built in will be brilliant.

Yeah, they tend to go at about 101k.

Same, be sick to park up on a hook up and charge and use loads of electricity to offset the eco benefits but my favourite van trips are over to see friends on West Coast of Ireland or to North Wales and Anglesey so I have the feeling a 200 miles range van would be a ballache.

Also…I’ve been to the VW dealership in the past to ask about buying a California and they were fucking muppets. Tried to make me feel like I was asking to join a waiting list to shag their mum.

I know that they got really stupid when there was a van shortage after covid, well took the piss with prices etc… If we ever change our camper probably go one size up I reckon, Sprinter or Crafter size.

I think we should be the judge of that, do you have a picture of their mum

There was going to be electric versions of the T7 iirc. I wonder what the range would be on them. At least they won’t look as goofy as the Buzz even if the same range.

Don’t hate the Buzz but it’s not really a camper van it’s just a rectangular SUV

Yeah, it’s meant to be a pretty good family car. I don’t think that the electric T7 variants get that much range either really, maybe because they aren’t designed as EVs so they just have to wedge the batteries in wherever they could.

Picked up my Ionic 5 today, absolutely delighted.

Except it barely fits on my driveway :man_facepalming:t2:

We hired this last week because my Mrs wouldn’t stop going on about how lovely it’d be to have a campervan. We camp quite a bit and have a decent tent, and this was objectively worse apart from setup/pack up time being much quicker.

It would have been ok just the two of us, but turns out that being within a 2m radius of your two small children and not being able to stand up straight all week maketh a cranky family.

Converted Unimog or GTFO

They do look cool but from a usability perspective they wouldn’t work for us for the same reasons you mention. I’d like one for just my Mrs and myself then do nightly stops on a coastal run for example.

For family we’ve got a 6 berth touring caravan instead. Obviously not as cool as a camper but once set up can leave it and go places (I do know you can get drive away awnings). Works for us with two Autistic children.

Mum and dad had a massive 4 berth converted van thing, there was even a mini garage where my dad had a full sized scooter. Was huge and the most embarrassing eyesore in the entire street. They sold it thank fuck

Just spotted this beaut:

My work makes these and a pickup version and I hate everything about them. All bought by rich retired people with cargo trousers and opinel knives on their belts who stay exclusively in campsites and occasionally go on a b road.

This one’s round the back of mine, often see it on the morning dog walk.

Ring doorbell and Tentbox loft extension.

Yeah I see lots of these, you’d be surprised, on some campsites I have had to contend with some quite wet grass myself at times, so I’m sure that’s where the snorkels, winches, traction boards and massive spotlights come into their own.

Those are so sick. Especially with a tasteful body kit.

Saw one of these in kings cross a few years back, Lynx Eventer. Eyes popped out of my head
