This lives round the corner from me.
Used to see loads of those on driveways, fibreglass bodies intact and everything else rotted away like dead snails.
I used to live in a close where someone had a very similar looking car (a Reliant Scimitar) on his driveway which he was endlessly tinkering with from what I remember.
My mum has always favoured slightly unusual cars and had a chocolate brown Scimitar Gte for a couple of years back in the 70’s. I didn’t really think much about it at the time but I remember my friends thought it was cool. In retrospect it kind of was.
Yeah seems to be a bit of Scimitar/Volvo confusion happening on this thread.
Seen a couple 106 rallyes round this way, both banging condition.
So steez
Slammed, wide arches, supra turbo engine swap.
Wouldn’t be seen de…..ah wait.

You basically got yourself a shooting brake
Not looking good is it.
I was looking a few months back and the market was grim. Looks like it is worse now after a quick look on AT.
Everyone who earns alright money is too tightly squeezed now, I guess. Plus for me personally there is a lack of value in new cars these days.
I think the car manufacturers have been pretty naive, even if you’ve got the money I don’t see why you’d want to spend a considerable amount on an EV.
Why not? There are some great ones out there. I have an EV and a van and it suits me perfectly though I do keep thinking about having a full midlife crisis and buying one of the new Merc AMG GTs.
Definitely some great ones out there and not against them in general, just don’t see the demand in the time scale they’re working to and especially not to at the premium level.
Rory Sutherland has started popping up on my IG a lot recently and this piece on EVs is truly outstanding
I have recently considered one, but it’d be low mileage used and that doesn’t help VW in keeping their factories open. I’d keep my current ICE cars. Drive would start to look a little busy ![]()
