Yeah, that’s my thinking, It’s not like before where learning an auto would hold you back, it’s kinda the future.
That’s my worry! I might end up building a groupB rally car and razzing around to my death.
It doesn’t really matter as long as you can get from to A and B.
I suppose my slight prejudice of autos came from driving one not so long back, my arm kept looking for the gear stick and my foot for the clutch I didn’t feel like I was in control andvon certain terrain the engine felt like it was labouring when it needn’t.
Yeah definitely just learn in an automatic then. Manual isn’t exactly hard but it’s definitely a bit of a learning curve for most people and makes it easy to stall the car out on your test and get all flustered. There won’t even be many new cars in a few years with manual gearboxes.
Yeah. It’s unfair on them spending half their life stuck indoors because Dad can’t drive and also I want some life when they are not with me, gigs, booty calls, I mean dates etc etc
Continually updated dogging thread.
I love driving manual cars fast, but I’m a huge spod and there’s something just so satisfying about nailing downshifts with heel and toe and all that. But for just general getting about in traffic/motorways manual gearboxes can get to fuck, just give me a stop pedal and a go pedal.
I remember a mate’s dad having some crazy audi estate auto and fuck, it pulled, he drove like a twat. Never did see the auto argument after that but of course, it depends on what you get.
After all this chatter about driving one of the first things I’m doing after this lockdown is over enough is a rally day in Wales that I’ve been promising myself for years.
Do it!
how many buttons does it have inside? I love cars with loads of buttons.
Me too. Did a track day in a 911 yeeeeeears ago (which was amazing, but actually put me off ever owning something like that because it was fucking terrifyingly quick) but a rally day really appeals.
My E46 was an auto in full comfort spec but it suited the car. Straight six sounded biblical on kickdown too.
Haha, not many buttons, there’s a big fuck off tablet on the dash… I don’t mind, I like digital consoles anyway. Plus Android auto
What do we think of this?
Pros: Looks cool, can watch snooker on the dashboard.
Cons: Range Rover parts might be expensive, insurance might be quite a lot because there’ll be a wean in it. Private sale so the guy might just take my money and kill me.
Love it.
When I get bored of the TV there’ll be a Bluetooth connection, right? Or a USB port?
edit: yes it does.
Somebody the other day said parts are a bit of a sticking point for these. I can’t picture a specialist anywhere near me, and I really don’t know much about cars. Although I suppose a lot of it’s just a case of going on YouTube then ordering the part online, right?
No mention of a service history and 3 previous owners would worry me a bit. It’s very Layer Cake, in a good way. Don’t be surprised if you find an ear under the carpet or it explodes, or both.
Interesting. How not? Currently running a black Mazda. Is that closer?
