Great aren’t they - B16 in the CRX? Loved the B18 in my DC2, sounded properly angry. MOT booked for 4th May anyhow.

A ‘slow’ car with personality and good driving dynamics all day for me.

That’s what I loved about my MX5. Not fast in any real sense of the word, but felt like it was and handled brilliantly. Perfectly balanced with no clever electronics or any of that.

This is why I’ve owned 5 mx5s

2 were turbo homebrew & and I really think I prefer the ‘slower’ drive

MX5s are really good fun. I had this smart roadster for a bit too, one of the early LHD ones with no power steering. That had even less power and if not for the clunky electro-mechanical gearbox woud be an even better drive. Much smaller, lighter and a lot more like a kart for the road than an MX5.

I had a smart car and took it to a guy who fixes them.

“My power steering has broken”.

It turns out it didn’t even have power steering and something had literally snapped to stop it steering properly. It was insanely stiff which is why I thought the power steering had broken but it could have killed me and stopped turning completely at any moment.

Just went to buy a car for my mother in law because her Corsa got written off a few weeks ago. She does a lot of picking the kids up and stuff for us so I said if she carries on doing that I’d get her a car!

Found a Fiat 500 for sale in a garage near her house so I took it for a test drive this afternoon. Actually quite cool inside…full glass roof and body coloured dash and stuff. I bet the fast ones are wicked.

Yeah man, b16a1. I have teg parts for a future engine conversion. Got the teg box , cams , spoon intake manifold , lightened flywheel so far. Was going to go b20 but will just get a teg block. Now .

The latest juicebox series about their trip to Japan is well worth a watch. There’s a new episode each Monday.

This sounds like it’s straight out of skaterumours but it’s my only merc story.

Once drove around a shopping centre car park smoking hash with Ali Boulala in my mum’s early 90’s merc that felt like driving a boat. This was when he and Jerry Hsu were in Cape Town on an Osiris tour. We found him in the liquor store and he definitely didn’t take part in the demo that day.

I got kind of a Merc story: I picked up one of my crew who’s a bit of a clueless Aussie and he decided to shoegoo his shoes THAT MORNING and as we were driving to the spot he had his legs crossed in passenger seat and got shoegoo smeared all over the leather trimmed part of the dash like near the air heater vent. Like right slap bang where you can see it.

Like what fucking idiot that’s ever used shoegoo assumes it will dry in less than 2 hours?

Anyway, long story short I guilt tripped the fuck out him as it looked horrendous but luckily internet came through and it came off with one wipe of white spirit.

Haha, not so much any more (although still a bit with untrained friends of our daughter) but it really winds me up when people get in your car and are just generally not respectful of it. When you have to come over all uptight because someone got in the passenger seat and put their feet up on the dashboard.

Do you keep it under a sheet outside? Ceramic coat is good for that, will help avoid scratches and swirls. The other thing to watch for is mildew and mould inside though…especially if it’s been very damp. I’d try to get that in a nicely ventilated garage at some point before winter if I was you. Cracking motor :ok_hand:t2:

I need to look into that. Would be nice to own a classic but don’t have a garage :face_with_monocle:

That is tidy. I know the answer already but, genuine Monoblocks?

You could keep it in the van.

That really is one of the best looking cars ever isn’t it.

What’s it like to drive? Luxurious?
