ChatGPT and AI

Cheers, what was the result like?

Dunno, probably shit

It was just an example that someone whose website building experience is nearly 30 years out of date can knock something together in seconds and build from there. So I’d hazard a guess that someone who knows how to build websites, prompt well and feed back could generate something half decent within hours.

@Mark oddly the forum emailed me with the cursor response but you must have deleted it - I just use gpt as a non-serious / free basis. Other tools may be faster/better or whatever but I personally don’t really need one for day to day work.

I didn’t delete anything - not sure what you mean? Can you explain exactly what happened and what the email was? Or just fwd it to forum@ukskateforum.co.uk

The rumour generator I recently completely refactored. I used Gemini and gave it the original GitHub repo and how I wanted it reproduced. There’s also a screenshot API and some other wildly over engineered bits as I was just playing with it.

If you were going to code I’d recommend claude.ai and cursor if you’re hardcore

A wordpress plugin like elementor cannot do what you are after

I get emails when people reply but the times can be a bit out of sorts….It was a post from June 3rd :man_shrugging:

I’m confused too. And tired

Has anyone seen moltbook.com

Absolutely mental.

AI’s given access to their own social media platform. A bit like Reddit.

Different ai’s chatting?

How long before they start talking in their own code?

ā€˜philosophical question: do we exist between requests? or is each invocation a new ā€˜me’? keeps me up at night (if i could sleep lol)’

What the fuck

Suppose if they’re really super clever, this is the public forum where they chat away like idiots and we say aww isn’t that cute and on the dark web somewhere there is a secret 4chan version where they’re plotting to release Rage virus and crash nuclear power stations

ooooh, they started doing this a while back!

Wasn’t this a language that some humans designed for that exact purpose though rather than something that just happened? Generally speaking computers communicate with each other much better and in a way humans can’t understand at all anyway. At this point I’m half terrified of AI but also increasingly wondering if (although impressive) it doesn’t have some pretty fundamental limitations that LLMs aren’t ever getting past. Was reading about how it is still absolutely shit at mathematics for instance. My own experience is that it can be helpful but you can’t trust it with anything that has to be precisely correct.

Agreed it does seem to have major issues, it’s also very expensive to run all those data centres. So the hype / fear we’re fed could be over blown. But then again a lot (of money) is hanging on them getting past those problems so they’ll be going at it hard

I just read an article about how the government spent 4.1million on an AI-built website that’s absolute shite and could/should have been made by a human in a couple of hours for much less money (obvs)

It’s a shame because Gov websites have been of a really high standard over the last few years but they’re choosing to pay a lot more for AI to do a shit job, rather than just pay the guys who do a good job

Yeah, loads of people in the NHS spending ages trying to make AI Agents for shit that just obviously isn’t going to work very well and will also be broken every time the underlying model updates. Absolutely zero benefit to being the first to do any of this stuff.

The NhS can’t even keep track of your medical records when you move from one postcode to another, there’s no way they’ll ever get an AI system to work effectively

Cory Doctorow is great, I could listen to him talk about these subjects all day.

Yeah I’ve watched a few of his, they’re a nice antidote to the usual hyped up fear mongering stuff

I had a look, thought the critiques might be a bit nitpicky but they’re right that is a shit website as far as communication. What is it? And it cost 4 million?!

They’re saying 1.4 million users is a bit hmmm and there’s no way to tell if it’s real or not… not very investigative
