The straight reissue is a disgrace but the limited edition blood spattered deck transcended plain bad taste. Dorfman knew what he was doing there. What a fabricant.
The best thing I can hope for from the edgelord video is that it encourages people to start putting a bit more effort into their editing again. Enough of this just chucking footage on a timeline and throwing some Midwest emo over the top - I want a return to ‘one step beyond’ levels of motion graphics. The only people who seem to be doing interesting stuff like this now are, as usual, the Japanese
Nyjah’s leggings under shorts phase. Fair enough if you’re playing 5 a side in -4 on a Wednesday night but not when you’re “sending” in the Cali sunshine.
I’ve had both the PR company Edglrd use and a fashion magazine hit me up to write articles on that video inclusive of interviews with Koston and Harmony Korine (in the case of the latter). I turned both down but I’m very curious to see who took the bait for coverage around this thing.
When the press release went out under “embargo” a few weeks back my friend Zach just threw a screenshot of the email on Twitter (which I think got shared on here). They opened it with “Hey Kyle” anyhow, lol.
