Yes, yes he did. When he turned up on The Nine Club I thought, ‘oh dammit Ragdoll, this one’s going to be a nause, obviously not as bad as the Hosoi episode but I probably won’t make it through the first 15 minutes’. Turns out that it was actually an enjoyable watch and Ragdoll, despite the daft name and similarly daft outfits, is a nice bloke. He’s been through some shit, and come out the other side fairly intact, (not sure about his bollock though).
I spend the whole week in pain usually if just skate 3 times a week. Worse if it’s more.
I used to run but the pain from skating gets too much once you start to jog. Which is annoying as I’d love to do both.
Try swimming?
I never knew how many different sports options there was on the strava.
Going to send a nicely worded email today for a skateboard option.
Ran for the first time in 6 months after 10kg weight gain. That was no fun at all, wheezing to 2km and waddled home.
It gets easier pretty quickly if you stick at it, though.
I been well slack lately but my excuse is I’ve been doing the garden. I’ve requested a landscaping selection on strava but no reply as yet.
I’ve just been pottering to nursery a couple of times with the littlun. Just over a mile and a half round trip. Keeps me ticking over I guess.
A friend of mine who likes doing daft fell running and stuff has made a little video about some old routes in the Peak District.
Just signed up for first half marathon. Longest I’ve ever done is 12km so hoping I can find a bit more in the tank on the day. Not until Oct 10th so plenty of time.
I’m sure you will be fine. Plenty of time for you to up your fitness level and build confidence at the same time. Which half have you entered?
probably the second.
Great Birmingham Run. Supposed to be quite a hilly finish?
Just had a look at the profile… Definitely more ups in the last few miles… Looks good overall though. I’m sure you will be fine.
What running watches is everyone using? Currently looking at upgrading (I track off my phone, been using the HRM on my cheap Chinese smartwatch but it’s pretty useless when moving, certainly going by feel).
Would like to be able to train to heart rate zones (running and on the bike) and track routes obvs. ANT+ would be good as I have a heart rate strap somewhere, and buttons rather than touch screen. Being able to tell the time would be handy. Long GPS battery for bike rides (8hrs plus if I ever get back to it) would be nice.
Not too fussed about music or smart features.
Been looking at Garmin 55 and 245, and the Coros Pace 2, so price up to about £200 I guess.
I’ve had a Garmin Vivoactive 3 Music for about 18 months (but I never use the music thing since I’m normally listening to a book and annoyingly there’s no audible app). As for the HRM I do have a chest strap from my old forerunner but didn’t find it varied much from the sensor on the back of the watch, both seem to throw out the same spurious readings at times. Battery has lasted for a full day’s walking before too. It is touchscreen but I’ve not found any downsides to that yet, just seems to make the UI a bit easier to navigate if anything.
Interesting, I’ve not really looked at the Vivoactive series. I’d kind of discounted touchscreen cos the one I have at the moment doesn’t lock during activities so I keep catching it on things and pressing buttons. Also I find them a bit of a pain when covered in rain and sweat.
If you haven’t already checked DC rainmaker reviews he’s definitely worth listening too. I just use an old
Garmin 920xt for swims and rides, and a forerunner 225 both are still going strong after probably 4 years or something.
Started day one of couch potato to 5k today. Feels good to be back doing it and the programme seems good
