Yes true but it’s also arguably the opposite of religion because instead of trusting a higher source it’s about placing yourself as the highest source. It’s a rejection of authority and the greater good in favour of “do your own research’ and selfish concerns.

Yes but that’s not even remotely what’s happening with anti vaccine disinformation. There is a fine line to be trodden but same category as climate change deniers, we just can’t afford their fucking idiotic selfish bullshit right now.

Has that episode of Joe Rogan even been censored in any meaningful way? You still managed to post a link to it. It’s still being promoted via Rohan’s Instagram. Some podcast platforms took it down, yes, but that is there decision as private companies with reputations and share holders to think about.
I think a little bit of perspective from the anti-vaccine crowd is needed. This isn’t ‘medical apartheid’ or whatever. You have been free to make a choice to not get the vaccine this whole time, you just have to live with some consequences of that decision.

Well I think that’s true. I would rather hear more dull views which addressed various reservations that vaccine-hesitant people have. I don’t think it helps open discussion to have any views which are critical of the government’s response to treating covid-19 (such as concerns around vaccine side-effects) labelled as misinformation or censored.

Yeah, picked that phrase up from a younger skater who lost all sense of proportion when a bar wouldn’t let him in for not having the vaccine.
As for consequences: proving, to the best of their ability, that they are not infectious with covid when entering indoor spaces with people in them. eg. proof of a negative lateral flow test. Although I know these can been faked, I would still like unvaccinated people to make the effort and to at least engage with the idea of having to make accommodations for those around them and not thinking solely of themselves.

Yeh I agree if there is a spike in cases and you go to a crowded place it might be a good idea to take a lateral flow. It’s callous to knowingly spread a virus if you have it.
Edit: I was just thinking about this and I was wondering what happens when we can’t test or run out of tests and it made me change my perspective on this slightly. As such a situation might lead to discrimination against the unvaccinated I think there should be clear risk/benefit guidance by the health authorities but the decision should rest with the people owning or running the venue. They can decide if you need a test, mask etc to enter and the risk should be weighed up by the person attending. I.e if you have long-term health conditions putting you at risk, you might want to avoid crowded areas until the R rate is lower etc.

I found myself groaning this out loud in the car the other day listening to a statement read out by Novak Djokovic’s legal team. Besides being really funny, it’s also kind of exasperating from a serious point of view. Like, it’s not fucking dangerous or difficult, so just get on with it for fuck’s sake. If it makes your life that much more difficult for not getting it, why not just get it?

Djokavic is a prime example of why famous people need to realise that whether they like it or not, they are role models. People look at how they behave and what kind of mentality they live their life with. If one of tennis’ biggest stars doesn’t believe in covid, lockdowns or vaccines, why should they?
