Covid

Ah he’s finally shown his true colours then. No surprise really. His brexit stuff was bad enough. He shut down every caller he didn’t agree with and didn’t let them speak.

I guess when your whole life has been a pro skater you lose a bit of reality but there’s no excuse putting strawberries in your salad.

Honestly if you have any real reason not to get it then you should be exempt but if it’s just your choice or you don’t want to be told what to do or ‘don’t trust it’ then you’re a bell and I’m happy for you to not be employed if your company forces you to get it.

I know someone that got fired for not having the vaccine who indignantly said “Well if I knew id lose my job I would have got it”

Fucking idiots

So the consultant is saying that he shouldn’t have the vaccine because he’s caught it and has antibodies the natural way. Therefore we should make sure all the NHS staff catch Covid to then give them the immunity? Not sure that strategy is a winner when their staff absence level is so high.

The guy said he had covid… at some point…

That stinks of Trout.

Signed off with, The science isn’t strong enough.

Really?

Probably why he’s an anaesthetist and not a surgeon.

I think the question is not about personal liberties relating to antibodies or your own chance of contracting covid but about what is the safest way for the entire planet to achieve immunity and to get rid of the virus or to beat it into submission. Surely vaccines are overall safer and less stress on the nhs than not vaccinating?

At this point you are doing a Warwick, posting trolling links but not joining in the debate…

If your are going to work with the ill and infirm, with lower immune systems from things like cancer or are fighting covid itself, ect… just fucking get it or go do something else. It’s not a hard choice. Put yourself in danger by all means but don’t fuck with other peoples lives. Babies and young children are not vaccinated, would you want their deaths on your hands?

He said he had antibodies from previous infection which is a valid argument. These will provide protection in a similar way to having a vaccine. He’s also right in saying that immunity wanes after 6 months after having vaccine shots. He’s right to ask why we don’t talk about natural immunity and why that is not as acceptable as protection.

If there is no clear link between vaccination and preventing spread than we also have to ask how effective it is in providing protection. I’ve had most vaccines available. I’m not an anti-vaxxer by nature but I respect the right to refuse.

I am not the only one posting links in this thread. I’m surprised that so few people are against mandating a medical product on a population without knowing enough about its side effects. I believed in informed consent which is one of the foundational principles in medical ethics.

Also, regarding consequences, how is it acceptable that clinical staff who put their neck out in the first wave and put themselves and their families at significant risk to help other people without adequate PPE, without vaccines are now being told that they have to take this experimental vaccine or be fired? What kind of treatment is that? This is happening to a friend of mine and it’s not acceptable.

But why is it a problem for him to work without proper protection and PPE and vaccines if he believes that the best outcome is to catch it and get the antibodies? Surely he’d be walking round licking all the door handles in the hospital?

These people took all the risk and now they’re being fired because they believe in informed consent. Go figure.

If I remember right a lot of nurse and doctors had to live in isolation/quarantine at hotels? So as not to put family and patients at any more risk than necessary? So that part is wrong. What about people with no immune system and need to be in hospital? Fuck 'em? The PPE fuck ups were not down to the public so make them suffer?

It sounds unacceptable on a personal level, but they are managing large numbers of people. You can’t antibody test everyone and treat every single person uniquely…you have to make efforts to protect the majority. It just comes down to forgoing some personal liberties for the greater good.
