Covid

Did this a week or so ago and only wish I did it sooner

Shall we do a Neil Young and stop posting until Sotonjoerogan is kicked off the forum?

I was asking for him to get moderated before and then backtracked, but he’s literally just a spambot now.

Cheers. Ignored.

It would definitely be good to have some context.

I mean it might be wise to share this if you were offering advice to watch out for symptoms if you are young and have a second vaccine.

Without context it just looks like an attempt to chip away at the legitimacy of the vaccine programme.

We had warwick perma banned for less. Least he chatted (and skated)

He didn’t chat, he just relayed facts from very narrow viewed sources, much the same.

We’re all big people though, we can just not engage if we don’t want to.

Funnily enough since he was called out for not posting here, he’s cropped up in the crypto-based chat in another thread. I think he had a misguided opinion there too!

In my opinion it would be a loss to the forum to just ban him just because he doesn’t share the majority’s opinion. And it will discourage others with the same views from posting. Eg there’s no posters here openly pro Brexit now.

I am all for hearing alternate views but have to admit @sotonjon needs to frame his arguments/opinions better as yeah it comes across as spammy.

Exactly! Banning someone with a different opinion isn’t the way to go. The forum will just turn into one big echo chamber.
It’s fucking frustrating how he doesn’t reply to comments, or read links (even his own).
I’d be well up for discussing his opinions with him but he’s just not prepared to.
It definitely has the hallmarks of someone spamming multiple forums with toxic links though.

I never said he should be banned, I didn’t think that old racist guy should have been banned either. I think those spammy posts, or posts with blatant misinformation should be removed. At least that would encourage actual participation rather than the low-effort posts he’s doing now.

But I accept there aren’t many mods and you’re all busy. Maybe you could hire an intern…

@buildafire is my intern but he has an itchy trigger finger!

This. I would’ve rather kept Warwick and got rid of “doesn’t reply spam man”. People keep going on about echo chambers but there are loads of different opinions here on a wide range of subjects. When it comes to big topics like brexit and covid, most people here aren’t fucking retards hence the general opinion is the same.

Yeah, I was on the ‘keep warwick’ side but ultimately, he ended up taking up such a large share of our time on here as mods, keeping the place happy.
He kept putting us in awkward situations where we would have to intervene or risk losing numbers of regular contributing posters.

We spoke to him and he would either ignore us or agree and then decide to go against what we’d agreed anyway.

You can be part of a community and not share the same views. that’s fine.
…and Warwick didn’t share the same views which again is fine.

The issue was really that Warwick didn’t want to play as part of the community. It was a one way street for him.

He has plenty of warning over many months.
It was ignored time and time again.
That’s when the ban hammer came out.

My main issue is with the mandates but I also am concerned that they haven’t finished their trial period. If there is a known link between mRNA vaccines and myocarditis should it still be mandated for healthcare workers?

I can’t always reply as I am often away from phone with work etc but I’m not trying to be disrespectful.

It’s healthy to air differences of opinion even if you strongly disagree with views that go against your own. E.g I’ve found that I voted remain but as time has gone on I’ve become more pro-brexit.

My point is that views can change and there is new evidence about vaccine efficiency and the effectiveness of blanket lockdowns. What we knew in March 2020 is different to what we know now.

Until it is finished shouldn’t they, out of conscious, opt out of wanting to be around seriously ill people then?

Well thats that ticked off, what else was there?

Cheers for explaining your thoughts a little.
Can I ask why you’ve veered towards a ‘pro-brexit’ attitude?

Bit disingenuous to frame that as the reason people would call for a ban. I wasn’t particularly keen on Warwick getting booted either but he engaged with the conversation way more than jon who may as well work for a russian troll farm, plus the shit he spouted was less dangerous overall.
