I watched a few of his videos, they’re pretty balanced and basically look at new data, white papers etc. He’s not anti Vax, says so and is fully vaxd himself. But the anti vaxers are all over the comments saying stuff like"thank you doctor for being brave enough to speak out" etc and he doesn’t counter that much
I’ve not dipped into anything beyond his video responding to BBC fact checking and to be honest, he is being quite thorough and clear so far (I’m 9 mins into a 20 min video). Seems respectful.
There’s one where he pointed out Pfizer’s trials were v small and not very public which is where the anti lot got on board. I think it was a fair observation though
I mean, who knows with this guy. I might dip into a few and begin to notice things I don’t like - but to go back to the Warwick convo over the weekend which kinda spurred me into looking at resources - I respect someone who acknowledges and works with the folks points who aren’t in agreement with them.
Seems like the people bashing Jon with such confidence and online authority know as little or less than he.
This goes for me too, but i’m having more a problem with the above than disagreeing with Jon’s views, that’s easy.
It comes down to people having decided which side they are on from the start and fighting to keep that opinion true all while being far too lazy to even back that up by reading up on both sides to keep that opinion well informed, well, that is until an argument pops up and they google some facts to back up their argument. This is normal unfortunately and we’re all culprits just some people like to give it large.
I am intrigued by Jon’s Brexit responses though, given that the fallout has been shit, not sure how someone can go from agianst to pro brexit.
I think Brexit would be a fine idea if there was actually a reason and a benefit to the nation’s people and it was implemented by a well meaning government looking out for everyone but no, there is seemingly no reason for brexit and it’s implemented by the worst crooks we’ve ever seen.
I believe we’re safer in europe though so the main selling point for Brexit would have to be really forward thinking and progressive for everyone but we’ll never see anything like that, at least not in our life time.
Seems like the strangest of movements.
From my understanding, a lot of people who voted to leave switched but I’ve not really heard of anyone from the other side of things aside from Jon.
Sotonjon has shared his videos in here before. Make of that what you will.
Campbell seems well meaning. He is mostly relaying information he’s got from legit sources in his videos, building up a bigger picture of what’s going on.
However, some of his most popular videos are where he interviews a vaccine hesitant person or someone who’s had a bad experience with the vaccine. I think he’s doing this in an innocent enough manner, but he also knows this sort of content is what certain people want:
Also, technically I am a Dr. Just not a useful one. I still use the title though, because I earnt it. I think we can forgive Dr John Campbell for that.
No, but his is in a sort of relevant subject. He will have a familiarity with the recommendations and epidemiology coming from medical organisations. His expertise does help him and gives him experience others lack. It’s just we expect a proper, medically-practicing doctor when we hear that title.
I won’t just post a link but the health secretary announced that vaccine mandates for unvaccinated staff in the NHS aren’t going ahead. Some good news for those affected staff.
