Drum machine / synth / sampler geekery

Oh sweet, thanks. Dug out some old vinyl. Will build up a jungle/liquid d and b collection from playlists I’ve made. Looking to get a pair of direct drive decks and a mixer at some point. Can start with one deck. I had numark turntables when younger and a Gemini mixer, really regret selling those.

My partner’s father had the handle ‘PJ the DJ’ in the sixties.

Bump… get summat recorded!

These look alright. Might be worth a look on eBay

Edit these might be a bargain or maybe trashed

You can pick up 2000s dnb 12s really cheap now

Thanks, I’m pretty skint so those job lots look good. Going to pick up the odd jungle/liquid record up too that I particularly like. Records like Even If by Calibre. I can’t really afford the decks and mixer right now but will save up. In the meantime I’m going to use Mixxx which is free dj software to relearn the basics.

If i was starting now I’d probably go digital. Much cheaper, more portable, easy to set up

I’ve got this, runs off a phone or laptop. Used it loads, no issues

Oh, not sure about digital, love vinyl too much. That Mixing Console does look cool though if you were playing out and were struggling to transport heavy decks etc. I can see the advantages of digital for sure. I’m just gonna build things up slowly. Get some records, one deck which I can connect to my amp and speakers then another deck and mixer.

Sick mix, just listening now.

Can anyone tell me what kind of lead these inputs are for? DOesn’t look like regular jack

mix of jack and xlr. So you can plug either.

Thanks. Wasn’t sure

Ever used one of these?

I had a zoom MRS 16 track for a while before I bit the bullet and went for Logic/mac.
Loved it, makes you treat everything based on what you hear as opposed to what you see. I liked the restrictions but my music started to get more complex and I outgrew it.
Basically the same idea, it’s a great setup for dawless mixing and whatnot. Dead easy to use too.

Yeah I’ve got a tascam 8 track, gets a good sound and i like using it but you can only record 2 tracks ar once

Bit of Sully studio method

I like how he treats that break

“The drum sample almost becomes the drum stick and the delay becomes the drum.”

Wow :exploding_head:

(Couple of out of print Sully bits just been repressed I noticed btw).

The new one broken down

How you getting on with the sp? Got owt to share?

Working on it. I’ve got loads of sketches and some track ideas.

I’m pretty technically-challenged tbh but having soo much fun, particularly with the s1 and the p6.

I’m going to Leeds tomorrow to a PMT store. Need some advice on how to get all my various boxes more integrated and possibly buy some
monitors.

Midi cables, audio cables and a mixer. I just saw a review of a new mixer actually

Called Assembler. Youd want some effects pedals as well… welcome to gas. Gear acquisition syndrome

Edit, fuck that it’s £400 or something.

You could get something like a tascam portastudio. Basically a 8 track… you can record 2 things at once then add layers over the top.

I’m starting to wonder to what extent largely avoiding a computer is making life more difficult tbh.

Thanks for the links - I’ll take a look at that✌️
