Epicly Later'd

Haha mad bastard collecting dead sparrows :joy:

Love him!

Edit: Stayed late at work to watch it through. Brilliant episode of the Epicly Later’d series - wish it was a multi episode series like the old ones! Such an interesting character and has undoubtedly had a huge impact on skateboarding x

As long as he draws the line at keeping them in a box in that lock-up in his yard, and doesn’t start storing them in a plastic bag under his bed so that, should he feel the need, he has them close to hand so he can inhale the stench of death, a la Dead from Mayhem, he’s still alright in my book.

Good one that.

Ah man, that was so great.

Really enjoyable episode!

Yeah this could have been a two or three parter for sure. It’s still interesting to watch but lacking that bit of depth needed.

That was fantastic. Especially how happy he was at the end after finding the money band. Interesting guy and great skater. I’m stoked that he’s found his way to remain a prominent voice in skate subculture. We all benefit from the Bob.

He’s got a great style but part of me is also like, yeah but, he keeps dead birds in bags…

That was a great watch and a lot more upbeat than I was expecting.

That was lovely. Suciu is a bit creepy isn’t he.

Best one I’ve seen in a while, needed to be 81 mins I reckon.

Burnett doesn’t come across great for some reason, felt like he was still on an episode of King of the Road. This is Bobby P, put some respect on his name :slightly_smiling_face:

Really enjoyed that.

Yeah every talking heads thing he does he comes across so clueless, I always assumed he was a bit more worldly

I wonder what was going on behind the scenes regarding Static 2 and it wasn’t acknowledged by Puleo/O’Dell despite having footage in there from the part

Really, really enjoyed that though and it could’ve been far longer. I wish he got skate nerdy on 90s stuff in his YouTube vids, I’ve tried to get into his deep dive stuff but 80s skatings a bit beyond me

Puleo and Josh Stewart had a very public falling out online many years back on some forum or other. Maybe the precursor to QS? Metropolitan or something. I remember it being really acrimonious anyway

IIRC was it where Bobbys part was placed? Someone did a trick at spot x after Bobby found/claimed said spot, but their section came first in the video…?

Yeah that was it.

It’s a weird one that, because we know more about Bobby and his personality and how he thinks and those details are important to someone who thinks like that and it’s understandable and the situation can be rectified if you consider these things. Before you’d just assume dude was being a primadonna.
Sometimes being passionate and having certain traits can make you seem a dick.
I’d have called him a dick before but I can certainly relate to him massively too.

Wasn’t it that Jensen had done the same trick as Bobby at a spot in London (some sort of grind into tight bank combo I think) and Bobby had done it first or at least skated that spot in a similar way first. Then Josh wanted to put Jensen’s trick before Bobby’s in the video, which (Bobby thought) might lead people to think Jensen had done it first or had come up with the idea to skate the spot like that first. Josh wouldn’t change the edit and the two of them had beef over it. I could be talking complete shit but that was my understanding from my general Puleo geekery.

Mad what you can ask GPT about!

In the early 2000s, during the production of the Static II skateboarding video, a notable dispute arose between skaters Bobby Puleo and Nick Jensen over a specific spot in London. Both had filmed tricks at the Holborn Viaduct, a wooden bench leading into a brick bank. Puleo executed a line culminating in a back 5-0 to fakie, while Jensen performed a frontside bluntslide to fakie. Puleo felt strongly that, having introduced the spot, his footage should appear first in the video. This disagreement escalated during the editing process, leading to tensions between Puleo and the video’s creator, Josh Stewart. Ultimately, Stewart chose to retain Jensen’s trick in the final cut, which strained his relationship with Puleo.

This incident highlights the deep connection skaters often feel to specific spots and the significance they place on how their contributions are presented in skate media.

Puleo kind of came across as a dick/nutter with that Static II incident back then but I understand the way he felt as he seems to have been really influenced by graffiti culture for a long time and seeking new spots was always his thing. Whatever, it is what it is, and I suppose it belongs to the past now.

Super stoked on this Epicly Later’d episode and on the Robert Puleo we’ve known for like 5 years now. As somebody said, the whole thing was way more upbeat than what we were used to. His skate clips on Insta always make my day, huge source of inspiration right there.
