Nice! We were ok for the floods thanks, but the town over got pretty wrecked. Supposedly we have more storms coming and there’s plenty of snow left to melt so fingers crossed! I rarely make it as far as Montreux but I’ll sometimes skate a bit at the Alaia Bay park… otherwise it’s just crusty street, thus the soft wheels or the metal death ramp we have in town. I skate more when I’m traveling or back in the UK these days (this is now CH skate forum).
CH skate forum, haha!
Glad you were ok with the floods. Hopefully things aren’t gonna get too crazy again.
Some mates used to work in Alaia but I can’t see myself going back there anytime soon, fuck the bourgeois that own it and their poor management.
We’re refurbishing the Montreux park (should be done this autumn) and there’s a small but fantastic new skatepark by the lake in Vevey, lovely place.
Every post of my insta is telling me the lurpiv resurrection is happening today.
Godspeed.
They just need to tell me why.
Ace say it’s all about turning better/more responsive and they have this thing about loose trucks saving lives. Slappy say it’s about better grind clearance and deeper turns without wheelbite.
At the moment the reason for Lurpiv is ‘Because Oski.’
This. The only people I know who ride these 3d printed lego trucks say they “believe in what Oski is trying to do” which as far as I can tell is trying not to go bankrupt (again?)
The truck market seems like an even more unwise venture tha the shoe market. Everyone already has trucks that they like.
Got my iron cross tat before the iron cross went out of fashion.
Would like to try lurpivs but aren’t they supposed to be heavy? Not that they will ever leave the ground much
I miss the iron cross Indys! The quality of the new ones made in China is definitely not as good.
Haven’t skated in 2 months, thinking of getting some new skate shoes and getting back into it. I’ve never skated Vans, thinking of getting these:
I heard those were kinda narrow but don’t know if you have wide feet.
Skating in Crocketts at the moment, those are narrow too but it’s the 15th pair I have or something and I love them. #coolstorybro
Love his videos, just a guy who loves skating
So after saying I didn’t see the point of these trucks I ended up buying some, just to see. Plus I wasn’t happy with the way the kingpins on my inverted kingpin Slappys kept working loose. If I like them I’ll keep them. If not I’ll put them on eBay
I get that they are supposed to be very good for turns but Jesus Christ they look like something from Frank Dibnah’s shed
I think they look great. Personal taste and all that. I really like that industrial/modern/minimal look. Will have to invest in some.
They’ve definitely got an industrial look - all straight lines, chunky metal and shot-blasted finish. That squared-off metal block on the pivot is meant to be an anti wheelbite feature- it hits the baseplate before your wheel hits the deck.
Gifted hater rated them until they fell apart but I think they fixed that now.
