yeah i did black, natural and purple too. purple probably the least offensive of those i guess but not great

Hhmmmm… Natural looks cheap, black is kinda mosher and purple is, well… purple.

As the great Aaron Draplin once said, ‘purple is the colour of royalty, don’t use it’

you’re all doing it wrong!

Black is the best and natural is the worst.

Black is the only one that lets your deck look good if you get the dreaded tape scrawp! Black will always look neat.

I have snapped many yellow tops too early. Never minded red. Brown is kinda classy.

I’m tempted. I’m riding Dragons and looking for something a touch closer to the feel of regular wheels. Also considering the new X95s

Do it! Hopefully I’ll get out to some curbs tomorrow as keen to see how they slide, Dragons I think stuck a bit

I got a purple top/bottom which I don’t hate nor love. Nice one Slam and DPD for delivery in under 24 hours, for deck I probably won’t skate for a couple of months

Alright I pulled the obsession trigger and got some aces.

Wheelbase is about half to 3/4 inch shorter. The trucks themselves are a bit higher than the thunder hollows I was skating before

The turning is stupidly easy. Had to tighten them down to reach the same looseness as the thunders

Most important popping feels quicker which is what I wanted. Might just be a mental thing. Will continue to analyse :joy::joy:

Always wanted Aces! And these Hollows are pretty useless as I don’t really flip board any more.

Might have to give yours a crack if you’re at dadlands, ha

how come you always wanted them? the only thing i knew about them until recently was that they came with that nut you can use to rethread axles  these are hollows too but yeah i don’t think i’ve ever skated a truck and thought “oh man they’re so heavy i wish they were hollow”

feel free to have a roll if i see you. i still want to try out @Chopper’s powell flight deck

Just that they turn good and again the old ‘I’m bored’ thing. Obviously there’s nothing wrong with my thunder hollow lights.

Ahaha I’m glad it’s not just me. I don’t know why I suddenly decided to shake things up for no reason

I cam confirm they’re stupidly turn. It kind of feels like the bushings are really soft or something. Bet they’d be really fun for carving if you’re into that kind of thing (I like straight lines and flip tricks)

I don’t flip mine that much either but it has more to do with longer wheelbases than truck weight I think. And age, but that goes without saying.
I have two sets of hollow 149s and one set of standard 149s and can’t really tell the difference. What I know for sure is that 360 flips do happen on 14 or 14.12 wheelbases while they’re hard on boards with a 14.25 wheelbase.

it’s kinda interesting because whilst i feel like actual truck weight makes little difference i think like the longer wheelbase makes the truck FEEL heavy. like it comes up more slowly with a longer wheelbase. whereas the shorter wheelbase everything feels snappy and quick

disclaimer - this may all be ramblings of a madman

Time for me to try a 12" wheelbase then

Won’t be long before we get Schmitt in to talk about his nanotube at this rate.

I’ve just measured my daughters set up (14” wb, Ventures) and mine (14.25” wb, Indy) and it looks like axle to axle they’re about the same, maybe 1-2mm longer on hers due to the forward axles on Ventures. Obviously Indy’s would pull that in a lot.

I look down on her set up and the wheels look too far forward in relation to the truck bolts. I bet that’d be a blag to get used to for a few sessions.

I feel like I could really do with one of those angle measuring things that Schmitt users to be fair :joy:
