Sounds like it could be from Bob Sanderson’s mouth in a Brum or Andy Evans vid
Good bit of digging but 2008 is way too late and Monkey Say was New Zealand based. Who knows? ![]()
Could explain how my lot in the Midlands became aware of the evil creatures that lurk in the cold shadows
On the topic on skate lingo, when I was 13/14, if we got a delam on the nose, we would say it’d been ‘bell-ended’.
Was this just local lingo or did anyone else use this phrase?
Bell ended must mean the same as dicking someones board surely?
Dicking someone’s board is, I’m assuming, the same as nobbing someone’s board. Unattended board gets defaced using two well placed lines drawn with a stone, a coin or keys or whatever’s to hand to make said board look like a cock. That practice somehow has transcended multiple generations without it ever knowingly being passed on, yet somehow it keeps rearing its ugly head, (pun intended).I’ve not seen it for a while but I suppose it still goes on to this day.
You can do a quick attack by just using your board, scrape the point of your nose along their grip…
Best one I’ve ever seen was one of the crew that was already out in a session asked someone else to bring him fresh grip as theirs was peeling.
And they pre-dicked the grip. Genius.

Pop Goblins! ![]()
After struggling to hoof my carcass on to a little ledge yesterday I think some live under my bed and interfere with my legs when I sleep.
Need some advice on new trucks. Been skating Indys for as long as I can remember but wondering if I should stick with what I know or are Aces better these days? I skate my trucks relatively tight for what its worth so am thinking maybe Ace’s with the hard bushing but not sure if I’m just switching things up for the sake of it
Duh, grind king.
You are switching things up for the sake of things and that’s fine
That’s how I crossed from Indy to Venture, was pretty painless, only took like 1 session
Ace are designed to be ridden loose, so the turn is responsive. The stock bushings are softer than Indy stock bushings. They feel unstable and wrong when you first ride them, but if you stick with them they improve your balance and control. If you’re going to buy them and then change the bushings so they ride more like the trucks you prefer, why not just stick with Independent?
I’d say indy are the worst to ride tight.
whenever I saw people riding them like that they were all cramped up and would run off in random directions.
This is why I struggled with Aces. I’ve bought the harder bushings as recommended on here, but haven’t had a chance to try them yet.
As Sleipnir said, they do feel weird at first if you’re used to tight trucks. They’re fun though, especially if you’re just cruising round. But you seem like you still have tricks, whereas I do not
I ride aces. You can have them quite tight and still get a very good turn.
Any one tried Slappys (the truck)? Like the look of the increased grind clearance, and quite intrigued by the anti-wheel bite geometry (while still supposedly turning well).
i have Aces with the hard bushing and they’re still looser than say, Thunders with normal bushings whilst being slightly more tightened down. to make them tight you’d end up with like a centimetre of thread showing above the bolt
Pop goblin was from a kingpin mag around 2005 I wanna say, got it in my parents garage somewhere. Can’t remember who said it!
Grind King, Tensor, or Gullwing
