Lurpiv 3 now in stock at Slam
I got a set of the new Lurpivs. They’re pretty much the same as the previous generation.
They’ve shaved a bit of metal from the underside of the baseplate. They’ve lowered the kingpin a fraction. But essentially you’re riding the same trucks.
They still have that industrial T-shaped styling, but the finish is slightly different - the second generation were sort of shot-blasted and looked almost matt. The new ones are more polished - not mirror-smooth like Ace or Slappy. More like polished Indys.

I’ve got a pair of the 2nd gen ones. Still haven’t set them up yet but looking forward to giving them a test run.

New deck ready to go. Its the heroin gold rush deck but that gold foil felt weird so a quick wire brush and it looks like some early 90s blank. Grip job inspired by Burnham Staite grave yard lurking momento mori.

Helmets. You either wear them or you don’t.
But if you do, you’ll know that most quality modern helmets like Triple 8 Deep Cover are bulkier than helmets used to be.
This is because they’re three layers thick - the shell, a layer of EPS and then the liner attached to the EPS with Velcro. Sweatsaver liners are better than that cheap cut foam stuff that falls apart.
But as I say they’re bulky.
So I’ve been really pleased with Tony Hawk and Lizzy Armanto’s new Yepa helmet brand, which are actually low profile - or at least low profile compared with most modern helmets rather than with old-school ones that didn’t protect you in a fall. The reason is the EPS layer is cut away around the rim, so the sweatsaver liner Velcro’s directly onto the shell, meaning the helmet is 2 layers thick, not 3, while still having the highest certification levels.
All of which means very little if helmets aren’t your thing
