ahhhhh cheers, i did wonder. can’t we perma block?
When I can get it, I ride the GO23 shape, just FYI
still skating both of these btw and still lovely !
shame i didn’t realise years ago that a 100 quid bang on wheels and bearings at once would actually save me money over time ffs
I’ve just got a new set of Bones Super 6 swiss and can’t wait to set them up… my current set of swiss have last me about 2.5 years, I reckon that’s good mileage.
I’ve also just put on a set of Thunder Titanium Lights on (that I was very fortunate enough to get for free) and loving how they feel. I’ve only had two curb sessions on them so far but cannot wait to try them on the ramps.
is it my imagination or do the titaniums sound weirdly different? perhaps not so much on a curb but grinding on metal i think they sound different to other trucks. i really like them though. thunders for the win
Hmm… I’ll confirm and get back to you when I ever get to skate som coping again! I haven;t used them before, just had normal Team Lights before…Deffo Thunders for the win! Do you change the rubbers?
nah didn’t change the rubbers. everyone tells me that bones bushings are the best thing ever but they never last as long for me as stock ones so i just stick with stock ones. breaking in trucks isn’t a big deal compared to new shoes so happy with stock
Depends on if you clean them properly. I’ve had my set of 6 balls for 12 years and they are still spinning great. I give em a clean when I change the wheels (prob once a year).
Wow, that’s really good going… I don’t really ‘clean’ them… I half arsed do it by bones speed cream… I think now I’m pushing 40, this will become a new thing for me. An annual afternoon of bearing cleaning seems fitting
So these bones Swiss, they cost three times as much but last much much longer? Do they roll any different or just last longer?
I haven’t had ‘normal’ bearings for about 10 years so hard to say for sure… but i do remember when I made the change, at the time from NMBs and Death wheels to Bones Swiss and Bones Wheels I was dumbfounded at the difference! I ride Spitfire F4’s now and again noticed the difference between them and Bones STF (for the better)
I’ve been riding bones reds for what feels like forever and the thought of changing for anything else is alien. Spitfire formula 4s are also very lovely
the difference between nmb’s and 20 quid wheels to this is astonishing tbf. i like to go pretty quick anyway but it’s just so much easier now, feel like i’m gliding around everywhere. it’s like the new wheel feeling but all the time
Once you try Powell Swiss you will totally understand what the hype is about
It’s a noticeable difference and I explained it before why it makes such a difference.
But without going into too much detail, skateboarding is hard and marginal gains are important.
It’s not even that marginal tbh, they make quite a big difference.
I remember dropping in a quarter at Bay66 on a new set when it was all tarmac and nearly slipped out as they were so quick. Didn’t have to push half as much etc
Yeah got to get used to that but once you do I’d go as far as to say you will ride away from 10-20% more tricks.
