All boards are the same. How long they last and how strong they are are not related to how good they are. Some boards are purposely made to not be the strongest in order to perform how the skaters want them. It’s all subjective preference. It takes years to work out what you prefer. Always good to start off with a brand you like the look of and see what they offer.
Unfortunately decks are something you have to try a few of to work out what you like. It’s really hard for someone else to say what you should get and not helped by shops being shut so you can’t even go in and stand on a few to see how they feel under your feet. Maybe if you say how you find the current board (dimensions, steepness of concave) then people can offer up similar or different shapes from other companies?
Less thought should go into it in my opinion.
Get a good quality board in roughly the right size and crack on.
Choosing a board is simple:
- Choose a company based on how the brand reflects your personality
- Choose a skateboarder from that brand’s team whose artistic temperament you align with
- Ensure the board shape doesn’t feel out of place and check it isn’t too wide. The concave should be comfortable under your feet
- Ignore all of the above and just choose whichever board graphics in the shop you like best
That’s what I do anyway
At a beginner stage I agree, you have no idea what you like and you can get used to anything so you’re preference is usually based upon how long you used something and what you learnt on it.
i’d love to be a ‘i don’t care about graphics man’ person.
do you just never ever do a boardslide or lipslide then?
Yes sometimes I love that tail/nose only wear that was prevalent in the 90s
nah, once its bought its over.
i’m talking about during the choosing of said board.
its like making a plate of food look nice.
it doesn’t really matter and it’ll get fucked up but its still important.
i love how fucking insane most skaters are. try explaining that to someone who doesn’t skate, geez! i love a good graphic but at the same time i hate a fresh board, first trick is going to remove some paint
The forbidden 14.
Used boards look much better with board/lipslide and Smith grind marks.
The forbidden 14?
An East coast thing I think from back when lipslides/ boardslides were considered passé/ wack. The 14 refers to wheelbase, (14’’ , you see). No scratches allowed on the forbidden 14 otherwise you were just advertising that you were a kook. Don’t you just love that skateboarding doesn’t have any rules
Lol what the fuck! Lipslides are clearly the best slide

All this Shorty’s stuff just seems to have come out of nowhere.
The owner died Tony, because I think originally him and Chad didn’t see eye to eye and now since his passing he seems to be heavily involved as well as doing his own thing muska skateboards
At least we know the board has a wheelbase.
anyone skated any of those darkroom boards? kinda digging the old aws esque graphics and i’ve been meaning to slowly size down my board a little bit.
They’re on bbs wood. So no doubt they’ll be decent. I have no idea about the concave/,shapes etc. though
sure you can. try skating a setup with no grip, it’s hilarious fun!
the most important thing about griptape is that it’s plain and black. colours, logo’s and pictures are not the one
