There’s a clip where he shouts ‘move bitch get out the way’. definitely worth watching for how awful it is side of bad.
never seen a ‘screenlife’ film before so that side of it held some interest for all of 10 mins

I heard it was filmed back in lockdown. God knows why they sat on it for so long before releasing it.
I’ve only seen clips when I did a scan through to see just how bad we were talking, how many times did he shout at his daughter “I got you!!!” - seemed like a lot
Looks v bad indeed
Anyone seen Friendship, it’s good.
Kinda of like a really long ‘I think you should leave sketch’ which on paper sounds like it could be too much but in actuality Tim Robinson manages to hold back mostly until he crescendos in spectacular form!
I had high hopes but felt it wore a bit thin by the end, definitely had its moments though. The really bland Subway trip scene was incredible
Excited for Tim Robinsons new HBO show in a couple of weeks though
Enjoying Platonic atm, v funny
Just watched One Battle After Another.
Fucking loved it.
Can’t wait to watch it again.
same here. absolutely bang on. pacing was perfect for a movie of that length as well.
Benicio del toro as my new favourite street superhero
Just back from The Long Walk at the cinema. Probably not worth the £20 for ticket and drink/popcorn but worth seeing. Bits felt less like a dystopian future fictional story and more like a new Trump policy announcement so slightly depressing but well made considering it’s just a load of teenagers walking a road for 2 hours.
Had a half day off work so went to see The Shining in 35mm.
Im not a big horror guy, but The Shining is definitely up there for me as one of my favourite films
I haven’t! I’ve read a bit about the making of it, how Shelley Duvall was a bit traumatised by the whole thing, but don’t know that much. Will watch that tonight.
It’s amazing, some of it I totally buy, some is batshit
Did you manage to watch it?
Anyone got some film recommendations for movie night with the misses, can be old movies (I prefer dvd over streaming) not too blokey not too girly
I watched about an hour of it, but tbh, some of the theories started to get a bit too all over the place haha. I knew it would get silly when the guy at the start was talking about Kubrick’s face being in the clouds.
If they’d just stuck to the main ideas of it being an analogy for genocide I could have bought that, or even just a deep dive into the details of his filmmaking.
What I did think was interesting though, was that there’s a bit in it where they show a clip of Wendy going into the ballroom and there’s skeletons everywhere - I have never seen that scene before, and I’ve seen the Shining 5 or 6 times. Turns out the European version is significantly shorter than the US version, so I must only have ever seen the short version of the film. Had no idea!
Yes like I said some of it is batshit but that’s part of the fun for me. Bits I do think have something to them are the American Indian themes, that it’s about the genocide lurking under the surface of American life etc. Blood rising up from below from the lift etc. And the racism of the seemingly respectable butler type. The guy even says at the start the hotel is built on an Indian burial ground.
Then theres the stuff just intended to make things seem off, without you knowing why. The impossible office room, the way the assistant acts towards jack. The carpet changing direction. Jack is reading playgirl magazine in the lobby! The typewriter changing colour. The maze on his tie. And I can believe the crushed vw beetle could be a little nod to Steven King, like I’m taking your story and running with it, not respectfully. Maybe
I think some maybe kubrick fucking with movie obsessives, like Lennon in the song Glass Onion.
The rest though- batshit crazy.
As you can tell I really liked it.
Tried out House of Dynamite on Netflix, big oscar buzz, good cast, Katherine Bigelow etc
Dog shit
First 20 minutes are tense, rest of the film will have you staring at your phone, no payoff whatsoever
