Joe Allen and Ben Davies were immense. Dan James is utter fucking shite though. Just runs around really fast and shouts abuse at the ref.

Agree on Davies. Also Hennessy was awesome, despite playing 2 games all season!

Rob Page needs to learn to make more substitutions. Wales looked well leggy with 30 mins left.

Great game that

The wealth of English talent and he’s still playing Maguire and Trippier

Lucky draw. England managing to make decent teams look shite too, by dragging them into scrappy, disjointed matches.

What is wrong with Trippier?

Short memory eh? He’ll do one great thing in a match and then nothing. Euro final against Italy Trippier starts as we set up more defensively. That was his job. He got an assist for our goal and then failed to defend for the rest of the match

I don’t even like Luke Shaw but he’s arguably the better player

Younger and better than both is Chilwell but again going back to my original point, with the wealth of English talent available, Southgate sticks with dry older players. As long as Kane is alive he won’t give Tammy a shot either

Chilwell would have played he’s been out with a long term injury.

The real question is why play Trippier at Left Back. He’s a RB. Tripps is mint I don’t know injury situations for other options in the position, but Trent or Reece James would start ahead of him.

Hard to make a case for Tammy (or any other striker) when Kane is flying and is closing in on Rooney’s England scoring record.

Game was absolutely dead until Grealish finally came on. I can’t understand why Southgate won’t start him. He was the difference against Germany in the Euro’s too. Also, Jude Bellingham was incredible.

I’m going to see England vs Hungary in Wolverhampton on Tuesday with @Brewer and some pals. Anyone else on here going?

Bellingham looked good as did Grealish. Referring to Kane as a dry old player is a bit fucking stupid.

Long memory I’d say. He was by far the better defender when he had to compete with Walker at Spurs.

Even though he was injured without Tripps around our squad the Toon would have struggled to stay up.

Targett in for Ā£12mill think that’s a touch to be honest.

Good business for both clubs and the player. Everyone is happy with the outcome.

Targett didn’t want to fight for his place in the team against Digne and bounced at the first opportunity.
I like him, but if you don’t want to be at the club then do one!

He’s been better than Digne I would say.

Teams doubling up on Grealish gave Targett so much space, I genuinely believed he was fantastic and could’ve made it into the England squad. He looked half the player when he actually had to work for it

I thought the Saudis would be after a better calibre of player so I can only assume this is to boost their English contingent

Not better calibre, it’s a project and I think they don’t want to get burnt too many times. It’s a massive project as we were under funded around the entire club not just the players on the pitch. The signings we have made so far have been excellent.

Getting Tripps for 12milly when we were 20th is mad.

I think they have seen City spunk a lot of money up on the wall on shit. Robinho, Mangala, Bony that’s Ā£100mill plus right there. Easily done so they are taking their time. Dan Ashworth has come from Brighton as sporting director from Brighton with a great rep. So we shall see what happens!

Completely! The majority of Toon fans have no expectations of bringing in the likes of Mbappe or Messi and winning the league within one season. I and I imagine most others would just like to be consistently in the top half of the table for the next few seasons and not always fighting off the spectre of relegation.

You’d think if you were going to bury your head in the sand about the reality of your owners you’d at least be rewarded with something better than Matt Targett no? Or is ā€œnot getting relegatedā€ alone worth it?
