In a way I’m glad, another FA Cup win would have papered over the cracks again and given everyone breathing room they don’t deserve again. Now we can just get on with the selling and sacking!

It wasn’t a great match from you guys. I don’t like the way Amarim does anything - his lineups, subs, how he talks to the press. Properly seems like a chancer tbh

I can’t get over how stubborn and inflexible he is, when his tactics blatantly don’t work in the current set-up. Really glad that LFC didn’t go with him, having initially thought he was a great choice.

I wonder if that’s his age. Chelsea Mourinho 1.0 in his 40’s was like that, same tactics every game. If it didn’t work then it was the opposition, the ref, whatever’s fault.

Yeah I know but he didn’t win every game and when he did lose it was never his fault. I just think the older (good) managers have that flexibility and humility to change tactics and also accept when they fucked up. Like Pep at Barca, his approach was world beating at the time so he rarely had to change but look at him now. Football has moved on and he’s struggled to do the same.

Amorim beat City with Sporting earlier in the season, playing that exact formation.
That clubs rotten to the core and has been for a decade. Think that’s probably part of it. Look at Antony at Betis

Citeh have been (relatively for them) dog shit for ages though. Agree on Man U. They were my first ever club as a kid living in Teesside just cos I got a sticker book and the first pack of stickers was all Mark Hughes etc, then there was the 99 final with Solskjaer and all that. But you realise now that Fergie was compensating for the cracks underneath. Which makes it even more amazing what he did. Every manager after that was seen as a blip but you can’t have a 12+ year ‘blip’. It’s the club, not the manager.

I see this as united heading for rock bottom. After so many years of the glazers funneling out cash and awful management this was inevitable. I think they will probably rise again in the next few seasons as their income dictates that they will be able to if they make pragmatic decisions. As a Liverpool fan though, I pray it continues for another decade or more
They’ve got to get rid of a lot of dead wood on ridiculous wages first.
Rashford (although looking lively at Villa so far) is on £325k a week.
33 year old Casimiro (who is refusing to leave) is on £350k a week!
What they can’t afford to do is let Amorim sign a load of players from his former clubs to fit “his system” (you didn’t invent wingbacks mate!) and then sack him, leaving the new manager coming in with a load of the old managers’ players.
But it’s ok, Big Jim is making big savings for the club by reducing the food options at the staff canteen
