Aye but it ultimately backfired on him really. SAF and the team thought he was Michael Fabricant after that and you could tell neither were happy for the rest of his time there.
I feel like SAF did it just so he could ship him back to finish off his career at Everton when the time was right (via Jose Mourinho in the end but SAF kept Rooney signed for this purpose). Making sure no ‘big’ teams got him.

Similar style, big rep and fee, average stats in prior seasons, linked with Arsenal for ages who bottle it, inevitably signs and walks the league.

I’d sell him for 150 mil. He was gone next year anyway.
He’s obviously amazing, he put in a good few years for us and got us in a good place.
If he wants out I’d say let him go with our best wishes and hopefully use the money to build the team up.

As a Liverpool fan I’m not sure I want him for that money. He’s a superb player but £150m is a lot and the forward line is where we’ve got so much depth, even with the terrible loss of Jota. I don’t want us to become the club that just spaffs money at everyone again like we were in the 2010s and ended up paying mega money for Rickie Lambert.

I’d disagree. He’s arguably the best forward at the moment and there aren’t that many. Salah may not have another great season. Jota, RIP. Nuñez and Diaz might be moved on. If he’s available and we’ve got the money I say go for it. Apparently Liverpool have the best revenue at the moment so seems like a good time to stock up.

Yeah it was a poor comparison, it’s just we’re chucking a lot of money about and the last time we were linked with as many players was around that 2010/11 time. Andy Carroll would’ve been a much better comparison, but actually I thought he was half decent business at the time!
I’m thick as mince though because I still have hope that Nunez will have a 25+ goal season for us!

Such a shame if so. I was always a fan of him at Southampto where he had a couple of strong seasons before joining LFC alongside Lallana, but were bizarrely never played together at Liverpool. That was a strange period for transfers at LFC under late stage B Rogers - Lazar Markovich, Fabio Borini, Ballotelli, Benteke and Ricky Lambert…

I’m not trying to take anything away from the win, I love the Lionesses but come on they only won them because the other teams were even shitter at them.
