100% know where you’re coming from. Stats and data have ruined football. I’ve half jokingly said to my wife that if we win it I’ll be done with football. I’m not sitting through another 23 years of this waiting for the next one. Happy to draw a line under it.
On the officiating front it’s the inconsistency that drives everyone mad. As a teacher it reminds me of when the behaviour policy is black and white and 2 weeks into term colleagues start moving the goal posts. It’s no wonder kids kick off when you toe the line and others don’t.
Remember the World Cup 8? Years ago when the blew up any time there was any holding. We had 2 pens from corners in a 6-0 dicking of Panama. Its was crystal clear what was going to be a foul and 2 games in and the fouls stopped and the refs were consistent all the way through.
I was hoping this would be a world cup I could enjoy without the awful background of it being in some fucked up nation (Russia, Qatar). I barely watched those tournaments if at all. And now Trump has made this world cup even worse than those with the added negative that he is going to lift the trophy in the final
He said he won’t go (but don’t all players at first, likes living in London, ect) but yeah he grew up a United fan and is from Manchester like bacon said.
