can a football fan explain to me why spain’s goal was disallowed??

Foul on keeper by one of the Spain players before Cucurella scored

So much passion in the sport but any and all contact is a no no. :man_shrugging:

Can’t see a way back for Austria now.

16 goals in 16 starts for Oyarzabal, seems quite good this guy.

Holy shitballs, his second just now came off the back of about a billion tiki-taki passes, lovely work…

Nuts ending to this

Wow that’s insanely harsh. Didn’t look like he touched it to me

Didn’t look like it, and it hit the Portuguese players head right afterwards anyway?

Portugal vs Spain anyway now, so bye, bye Ronaldo.

Portugal won last time at that Nations League Final so you never know

Of course you never know in knock out tournaments. They might bloody win the whole thing yet! Look at Germany that most people were backing (in that match not the whole thing). Ronaldo has definitely felt like a thorn in the Portugal side this World Cup though, with reports of team mates unhappy he is still getting picked.

Not sure I believe those reports, and it’s a pretty crazy disrespect to his career really, and I don’t even like him a a person but he is undeniable. Martinez doesn’t seem afraid to take him off. He’s already scored enough to justify it and his intelligence and influence makes up for his lack of pace imo.

I felt sorry for Modric going out for a shit decision like that. Game deserved to go to et.

Actually I take that back I just re-read what the Portugal team mates said about Ronaldo and in context, it looks like they are defending him and his inclusion, it’s just worded in a way that can be twisted (so of course everyone has). Still I don’t like the winker after getting Rooney sent off (yes he stamped on his balls but still).

Modric is one of my all time favs. Such a shame.

I watched the highlights this morning. It doesn’t look like he had any contact with the ball.

The snicko technology…is there a sensor in the ball or something? How does this actually work?

Why was the game still going on at 104 minutes? I know Portugal scored in added time but that feels loooong. Might watch the end in real time later.

Another banger!

Even if it did snick it didn’t it hit the Portuguese players head much more obviously before the attacker? Or am I going mad?

Yeah that’s what I thought at first too but it was the press just making shit up ( quelle surprise ) again

Was interesting what Roy Keane was saying the other day about players not needing to be mates with everyone and get on well with every single player. Life is not like that. Sheringham and Andy Cole detested each other and never spoke but played very well together.
