General Election '24

…Also, if the young have to be conscripted to do involuntary volunteering, what will the old people who also received furlough money be required to do to show their gratitude?

Abbott binned from labour. Very harsh and unfair, though she is voter kryptonite to middle England that labour are aiming for… What a dirty business

They should’ve dealt with this months ago. Would’ve been a storm that raged for a bit and everyone would’ve moved on.

Now it’s in the middle of GE campaign it’s going to be a self inflicted wound the Tories can hammer at.

especially after they allowed that horrible tory woman to defect into the party…

It’s the Blair playbook.
Starmer knows you win elections by going beyond your core voters. Most lifelong labour voters will still vote labour whatever. So he needs to go about winning over people who might have voted Tory last time. Problem is, some of them are scared of voting for hardcore lefties, so if Starmer can say, we’ve expelled Diane Abbot and Jeremy Corbyn, it reassures them that he’s a nice, moderate centrist with a neat haircut and a shirt and tie, who gives press conferences standing in front of a Union Jack.

It shouldn’t have been too difficult to get rid of her considering the comments she made and apologised for last year. Leaving it this way and for this amount of time isn’t a great look for Labour but then it’s all nowhere near as bad as the Tories catalogue of scandals and blunders.

Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer has denied Diane Abbott has been barred from standing for the party. Sir Keir said the ex-shadow home secretary’s suspension from the party had been lifted but no decision had been taken on whether she could be a Labour candidate at the election.

Infuriating isn’t it that the election relies on the whims of floating voters, I mean if you’re still not sure after the last few years you must be very un/misinformed. Which they are if they read most of the papers or watch Sky news etc

Noticed the mail managed to get Rayner on the cover for controversially wanting to recognise Palestine, the looney lefty

So Dianne makes another gaff saying she’s been banned? Or backtracking from starmer? Not that I hugely give a shit

Talking about floating voters, loads of Welsh people been on the radio saying they simply won’t vote or won’t vote Labour and reckon the party will do really badly in Wales. Whatcha reckon @jimo?

I do FB ads for the Welsh Gov and the comments are just endless hatred for them.

I don’t know how representative they are of the population as a whole though.

The blanket 20mph thing was and is an ongoing absolute disaster. If they do badly in Wales I would say that would be a huge percentage of the cause.

Iirc though I’m pretty sure the Tories are forecast to be virtually wiped out in Wales so I’m not panicking.

Diane Abbott subsequently tweeted this which makes the whole ‘Diane Abbott texted a BbC reporter to say she was barred from standing’ news this morning even weirder.
Hard to know how much is gaffe, how much is confusion and how much is collusion. Either way, for all her positives, she’s a liability who is preyed on by the media and doesn’t seem to know how to make it work in her favour.

Wales has been having a time of it with the rightwing backed bullshit.
Im sure I read somewhere that some tory MP started the main anti 20mph FB group from England.
Dont get me started on the no farmers no food shit too

The be fair the election has caught even tories by surprise and a lot of them are scrabbling around trying to find places for them to stand or not even bothering because it’s to much hassle at short notice. There is confusion on all sides.
It’s better this happens now than in 5 weeks, we’ll be talking about so much more by then and this will be forgotten.
