Yeah, they did credit Wig with the photo which was surprising. I’ve never seen this shot before but looks like it’s done the rounds!

I was trying to work out if this would have been the same trip as when he did the drop in to ollie off on the kinked ledge in London that Channon King skated.

I reckon he probably did that when he came to London for the Generation 97 comp at Wembley if the pic was taken the same year. Americans used to come to Europe once a year for the summer comps back then.

Yeah, I think there was also a UK toy machine tour around that year. When Mike Maldonado ollied the Tower Hill double set.

Ah yeah I remember that now. Toy Machine was big in the UK in the late 90s.

Back when Slam distro’d Toy you literally couldn’t order enough of it. It would sell out so quickly

Do they even have a UK distro anymore? You hardly ever see the new runs of boards in shops (I know people stock them, just not widely), it’s always just various red monster or logo board and the occasional one off.

New video in the works though apparently

I learnt about Toy’s popularity in the UK later. Me and my mates were really into it but most people were into Girl and Chocolate here back then. Toy boards were hard to find here in the 90s, I think I only had two. Loved them!

When WTH came out it’s like Girl/Choc didn’t exist, everyone went nuts for them

Everyone had orange wheels as well

Toy was massive after Welcome to Hell, right video at the right time, then the teams just kept falling apart, Muska kicked off, Jamie left to start Zero (which a lot of Toy fans started buying instead), they did a great job of building a new team for Jump off a Building, and again everyone left. It must of been such a shit and great time for Ed.

Right after a decade of Thatcherism. What a dark end for a century.

TKC distro’d it for years - it just switched over to RockSolid which I imagine means that you’ll see it in shops more often again.
Also Lilly Strachan gets flowed

That’s exactly what it was like in our crew. I remember getting a set of orange 59mms and being so hyped, thinking I was Ed Templeton!

When you go back now and look at Ed’s part in WTH it’s crazy the shit he was doing. And skating so fast…

Jump off a building was very good too.

Jump Off A Building was my first video. Changed my life. I also had one of those knuckle hoodies I begged my Mom to buy me from DAI Leisure*. Wore it every day until it fell apart. Good times!

Was lucky enough to meet the Toy Machine team years later when they did a UK tour. @gawkrodger was kind enough to give me the heads up they were in town and I tagged along. We showed Ed a couple of vegan spots in Brum. Shout out Warehouse Cafe!

Glad to see it has gone to a better home with Wes and the Rock Solid crew.
