I’ve had risers on every setup I’ve had since EE3 came out which was 28 years ago. Ricky influence innit.
Matt Price on skate photography.
“That’s The One” is a slideshow with Matt Price about energy in skate photography and the place that photos hold in the modern skate media landscape.
Reminded of this photo earlier
I’ve never understood how the trick finished. I mean, it’s a backlip right? But it looks as though he’s going to come in forwards, but there’s nothing to come into, if that makes sense. Nothing to bonk front wheels off. Or he could bs revert to fakie, but doesn’t look like that’s the plan. So what happened
Ps yes I’ve not done any homework on this so maybe it’s common knowledge but for me it does not compute
No idea but I bet if you asked him on insta he’d reply.
Will do!
Edit: Hmmmm looks like he’s not on insta any more
Done for a cool photo, innit? There’d be footage if that was a make.
There was a story about this somewhere - Chtomeball maybe?
Yeah it’s on Chromeball, lots of chat in the comments:
“Correct me if I’m wrong, but Matt talked about that back lip on the expressway in an interview somewhere. Basically, the freeway was brand new and Matt and Sturt scoped it out and got the photo right before they opened it to traffic. I think I remember reading that somewhere. I could be wrong. Anyway, Mr. Hensley thank you for all the rad skating and inspiration when I was younger. You made skating something I could do, and its almost twenty years later, and I went skating today. Shackle me not not only changed my life, but between you and Lotti, it created the way I am today. Much props and get back on the board son.”
Didn’t know he was off insta, he was @matthensley22
Someone on Slap says they built a quarter pipe up to the rail and there was one stil there in the opposite side until recently. You can see the spot here, it’s still a closed road:
That ramp is touched by pretty much no-one. Can’t believe it’s a front rock on it!
Just received the new Thrasher (September). Alexis Sablone has the cover with a kick flip gap to grind, and there’s a perfect sequence of momija doing a crook nollie heel at beneficial. So stoked to see this level and quality from the ladies.
Also an af for decathlon skateboards… not so stoked on that but the trick’s pretty mental: fs blunt slide pop out over a ten stair.
Not really gnarly but I don’t know where to post this and it’s pretty good.
The Femi and Ray Barbee pics are so dope, but then again they all are.
RARELY SEEN PHOTOS FROM READ AND DESTROY, THE BELOVED BRITISH SKATE MAG over at Jenkem
ABP in the RAD book thread, with accurate observation on Jenkem from Anon.

The clip to go with it (a few story entries along) is amazing.
