Gone Skateboarding?

Shame I missed it. Was Scottish ripping @Frasersnacks ?

Stayed local. Didn’t want to spend 3 hours driving then fuck my ankle after 5 mins :face_with_peeking_eye:

Been out today with her indoors and my kid.
Visited this co-op place in Doncaster which is really cool. Free library, vegan cafe, seed bank, weird Skate Ranch style layout. Leaflets on supporting striking public sector workers, pro LgBtQ stuff, just generally positive as hell.
Deffo recommend the place!

@dsc_skatepark on insta.
Anyone who follows me can have a wee look at some of the stuff in there on my feed.

The ramp that Mrs Anon was skating looked like something I’d enjoy.

Hour and a half again. Took it easy as I’m still recovering and I also felt a bit off. Nice to cruise around though. Tempted to call time on my Indys as the axle slip is a little too much now and I’m having to twat them a few times a session.

Thursday next, them maybe Sat. Up in Manchester Monday so may go early and check out Projekts or, more likely, stay at home, skate Stoke Plaza until I need to go in the afternoon. Who knows.

Guaranteed for life aren’t they? Speak to shiner and re up

Apparently they are. I will as it has been getting worse. The most annoying thing is wanting to axle them as I’ve never ground a pair of trucks to axle. If they won’t replace/exchange I’ll see how sticking a pair of standard stage 10 hangars onto the 11 forged plates goes. I probably won’t be able to tell the difference…

Tempted to go to Ventures on a smaller deck just for a change but thats equipment thread talk!

Cheers :+1:

It’s possible that you might. When Indy brought in Stage 9 they lowered the height from 55mm to 53.5mm, and this altered the way they turned. Stage 10 kept the same low geometry. Jenkem magazine say:

the lower geometry remained and the trucks just didn’t turn like old Indys, making many riders to look to past models to get the perfect turn.

Stage 11 raised the height of the hanger and made them turn better. This was 12 years ago. Since then they’ve also introduced the ‘new’ Stage 4 for even better turning performance. But if you’ve got used to the stable turns of Stage 9/10, moving to a more turny truck can be a learning curve. And if you go to something like Ace it can feel really unstable and wrong until you get used to it.

Wack them on. It’ll be fine.

Sun came out, had a quick Finsbury Park session while I was home. It was a treat, though my skateboarding was not. Reached the ‘by the time I warm up, I’m tired’ stage for sure but banged out some basics and felt great to be on a board!

Drove past Bournebrook diy earlier today. I was going to find somewhere to park and have a quick roll atound, but there was fencing around it. Is it still skatable?

Short answer, yes.

The folks are working on an extension at the moment, so the fences are up to keep civilians off.

Car parking on the main road, or there is a scrap of land you can get on if you bump up the curb infront of the skatepark

If anyone’s in the area this Saturday, Bournbrook DIY are doing a fundraiser with a local brewery who have made a special Bournbrook beer! Come through!

I should have stopped and had a look. Hopefully I’ll pass it again soo. When its not sub zero outside.

I’m seeing someone in Birmingham centre but possibly after. I can get a train from New Street to University. If not Saturday then another time.

Managed just over 2 hours tonight. I’m absolutely knackered. At the same even 4 months back I’d not have been able to skate for 2 hours solid so I’m pretty stoked even though my ankle is frustrating me right now.

I’m still considerably older than most other skaters I find myself around at the moment, like > 10 years. Also considerably shitter at skating than the young folk too

Ah man, wish I was in London! I’d totally be down for a skate. Haven’t been out in ages myself.
