Gone Skateboarding?

Couple of hours at the curb spot during the (probably short) spell of decent weather. Arguably first proper skate of the year. Few homies out who I haven’t really seen over the bitch of winter. Good for the soul.

Local indoor, empty! Got a good round of basics in which was great. Ended up last half hour just fooling about with flatland stuff and caught a few ankle biters.

Just back from the Sunday early evening session at Selfridges. It’s free, it’s air conditioned, it has great staff and a real mix of skaters from 10-year-old kids to grey-haired veterans. It’s been going for years now, despite the fact that as prime retail space in the West End they could make a lot of money turning it over to selling clothes or perfume or whatever. What’s not to like?

Also, the bowl just looks way too tight. It’s squeezed into a corner of the store and I’m not sure enough thought has been given to how it actually skates. Seems more like it was designed as a backdrop for influencers and people new to skating who are unsure about where to go skate in London.

I thought exactly the same when I first started going there.
If you try to ride it from side to side like a mini ramp - which I did on my first visit - it’s shockingly tight. Not good at all. But after a few visits and after watching the staff ride it a few times you learn the lines and you get used to it - end to end and figure of 8 work super-well. Now I love the speed you can get in it. It is VERY fast.

In Manchester shortly. Supposed to be skating Projekts and maybe walking up to BS and Note, then over to Co Op for the evening. The can be arsed is really lacking at the moment as I’m just about to jump in the car and head up the M6 :face_with_spiral_eyes:

Edit - I deeed it

Anyone fancy a skate at The House one night this week? Haven’t skated for about 6 months and absolutely gagging :slightly_smiling_face:

Yeah I’m with @Sleipnir here - the bowl is actually good fun to skate: weird but good.
Also, Nick Worthingtin (used to ride for heroin) is the manager there and he’s sound.

Rad skate, 3 hours solid. Feeling a bit battered now. Really enjoyed Projekts, nice friendly staff. Should make the effort to come back soon.

Damn. Next time :+1:

Went skating for first time in a few weeks as I’ve been slammed with work and learnt a new trick for the first time in a few years!

Sounds funny saying this but: can highly recommend actually going skating as opposed to remembering how good it feels. I can barely do anything trick-wise any more but I’ve been out and absolutely loved it of late. Performance anxiety can bollocks.

Great day - shout out to @BAGHEADCREW and @Bobsomebody (amongst others) for organising the Big Game of Skate. Always enjoy RS and keep telling myself I should go more frequently as it isn’t that far….

 @KeithBeef

I’m absolutely shattered and I hardly skated :man_shrugging:

Hit up delside yesterday with a great crew and had a real fun skate. Was then invited to the vivarium mini ramp which transported me back in time to the ideal ramp days id recommend anyone hitting both spots up.
