Gone Skateboarding?

I remember being so chuffed when I learnt them but was doing the ‘half kickturn/half 5-0’ way of doing them. Got loads of stick for that , but forced me to learn them properly. Doubt i could do one now, but they’re one of the best feeling tricks ever.

Couple of hours tonight…Almost, almost…almost stuck a backside 180 on transition. But didn’t.

Good times, good crew - always worth a trip for Thursday nights TO STOKE-ON-TRENT, OH YEA! TO STOKE-ON-TRENT!

Then I lightly rolled my ankle, oops. Took that as a sign to fuck off home

Chilled one at Platt Fields today, thought we’d have a change of scenery.

Struggled through an hour tonight after a couple of hours last night. Back was feeling a little achey and balance not right. Still fun but very risk averse

Went to the new park in Hainault on Sunday. Very nice.

Unexpectedly banging skate today, forced myself to get out of the flat so I wasnt sitting in alone all day after a late night shift at work. Got the train into Liverpool wandered about a bit tried to get something on the block at Pier but it wasnt working, then went New Bird trick I trying was flipping every time but i couldnt keep over it properly so tried something else, 3 tries later I was rolling away, nothing amazing but was fully stoked. Met this Canadian skater who was visiting, went Lost Art bought some shorts on sale ( see the heatwave stop immediately …) went back to Pier cruised about a bit then went to the ferry terminal spot which I’d never been to before with a few people who I don’t really know very well. Ike was killing it, then I realised I was also skating with Joe Lynskey (spell ? ) only just got home . Skating, new spots, rad people isn’t it great ?

yo can anybody tell me how to get higher ollies? i’m basically a complete beginner and i’m at that point where you can get off the ground by a bloody millimetre despite it being way more levelled rather than rocket ollies anymore. is it just having to jump and stop focusing on manually trying to get the pop? i’m not sure what i’m supposed to be targeting for this

ps i tried my first drop ins on a quarter pipe. i ate concrete on all attempts but i’m hella excited to get it right tomorrow

Do them rolling, once you feel confident landing and continuing to roll forward try them up a small curb. That motion should help you lifting your back foot to level them off.

It’s all in the repetition.

Yeah it’s a timing thing and it’s a sequence of things but it all happens in an instant. So it takes a bit before you get it right so just don’t get put off if you can’t do it yet. Keep going and you’ll get it basically.

Pop, jump, roll away clean!

As above, timing. Tap tail don’t smack it down.

Had a pretty rough skate tonight. Took two falls - one where I landed primo and fell backwards onto a handrail (hurting my fingers :face_with_spiral_eyes::grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:) and another where I dragged my side and armpit along the corner of angle iron. Sweet :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

All of that is correct. Doesn’t matter how slow ir is as long as you’re moving feels completely diffrerent

Something at the local recently more new starters. Always a good thing.

Was hoping you might respond…

He and I lived together for a while. A great cook is Lynskey. I bet he’s still fucking sick too.

Haha, just practice a lot. Actually skating around helps too.

Falls are falls, part of the fun.

Skateboarder’s Companion just posted an insta with a bunch of Lynskey Hyde clips

Had roll around this evening was fun. But a load of new threads on Vinted so was doing my best Gustav impression at the park.

Was fun, didn’t do much, put some shoes in the tree and did some screeches

Out with @KeithBeef :waving_hand: last night.

I probably need a break now, at least until the ribs are better. Had fun regardless

Felt really down this afternoon for a small number of reasons, all adding up to a little cloud. I’ve had some rough sessions skating recently. Mrs asked if I was going and didn’t really know so thought sod it.

8-9 non stop. Best skate in ages - no scooters, a couple of other lads skating about, so literally had my head down for an hour. All good.
