Gone Skateboarding?

3 whole fucking hours skateboarding this evening. I feel like 6x9 after he’d been in the gym earlier in the week, completely battered.

Had to take my wife to the airport at 7:30am this morning. Decided since I was already up to go to the skatepark nearby. Learned FS boardslides on curbs.

Back at the glorious House again this morning.
Bumped into another guy I’ve not seen in 16 years and resecured frontside rocks.

Went to scope a potential DIY spot at an abandoned building supplies place in the middle of some woods and made the worst bank to wall of all time

Couple of hours with my daughter at the local indoor park earlier. Super cool to see my daughter gaining confidence, learning to pump and getting more speed on transition and then seeing her sneak off and try to learn how to ollie in a quiet corner on her own is just extra stoke. She seems to be into skating. There is a good ladies night every Wednesday at the local and the people who run it are proper sound. Her confidence was knocked a little when she slipped out early on - her wheels still have the running in grooves and they’re caked in park wax, so no wonder. Tried to slide the wax off for her but no joy. Might sneak my 99 F4’s onto her set up. At a point where I’m thinking about sorting her with a ‘proper’ set up.

Me? Fuck me, I’m really done. I still love skating to bits but unless something physically changes within me, I really feel like I’m heading towards my twilight hours when it comes to doing tricks and I feel quite gutted about it. The winter breaks mean I lose everything, then regain 80-90% of not much over summer, then repeat the next year.

I was never that great anyway so its dwindling and chipping away at what little I had in the first place. But I’m still so close to 360 flips and landed a (albeit nasty) back heel earlier. Kickflips are fucked. I’m having to recalibrate to land them again. Heelflips mobbed. After an hour I’m phantom popping everywhere, which may just be a physical strength and tiredness/timing thing. I’m beer rambling now.

Hopefully gonna skate Sundorne park in Shrewsbury next week. Not quite as iconic as Monkmoor back in the day…

If you can still land Backside Heelflips and are close to 360 Flips youre hardly done:slightly_smiling_face:
Skating is hard. If it was easy it’d be boring as fuck and we’d have all packed in at 20.
Im not going to be skating handrails ever again but as long as i can smash a Frontside 5-0 on a mini ramp ill still be on it at 70

Very true - I just got a little down last night I guess as I didn’t feel totally comfortable again. Nights are lighter now and its getting warmer so back to it. I really want to at least get a 360 flip done and on video haha.

Gonna have a mess with my Indys and see if I can dial some stability in with either a change of bushings or tighten them up. I feel like I’m literally balancing on my kingpin when setting up for any flip tricks. Different thread though!

Been skating both days this weekend, although short little sessions. Set up a national board i got with the subscription to the companion and I’m pretty impressed with it. Feels crisp.

Local indoor had a skate only night. Not massively busy, but I expect a lot of people are away for Easter. Hopefully they run another one.

Made my first ever Ollie up a Wembley/Euro gap - whatever they’re called - which was fun. First was rough, second was, well, less rough haha.

My daughter has more or less got backside kickturns on ramps and banks now so she was happy with those she made.

All in all good fun. Gonna self medicate now as the pain is starting :joy:

Managed to get to Marple this morning once she’d had a chocolate binge. Fun park.

Not far from me that park. And not far from Macclesfield - West Park. Something for everyone there but a great place for beginners especially

That park looks great fun! Looked it up and its up Stockport way, looks like an hour for me.

I find that having my daughter get the skating bug is amazing as I get to skate, have someone to skate with and get to see her progressing. I’d like my son to start but he’s more into his scooter and bikes right now.

Amazingly legs feel good after last night so gonna go skate tomorrow as well.
