I want to build one of those two but I’m a total retard at building.
Any instructions/hints?
I’ve seen a couple of these pop up on insta.. and screen grabbed yours earlier for inspo!
Didn’t know it was you though until now.
Keen for action shots!
Yeah I’ll try to post up some decent instructions. If I can build it, I reckon most people could.
There are a couple of key things I learned along the way that might smooth the process.
Got out for a kerb session tonight. Hour bike ride to get there and back but feel so much better for it. I think skating’s gonna be my non-drinking option, as I find the gym quite boring.
How tall is it? That’d be sick for slappy crooks
Anyone fancy it tonight? Buszy / pioneer / a carpark
@nazoreth @BDF @hugo @niallc and anyone else who may be keen!
ahhh as much as i’m up for that i’m in charge of the yout dem tonight. might try and put something together for next week though?
Same as Nazoreth. Wife is out so can’t mate
You gonna mate when she gets back?
These guys are nuts. They make slappy curbs and are from Finland.
So they drove from Finland to Tallinn (via ferry) to start a Baltics tour (Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland) but they’ve had all kinds of shit going down with their transport. Missed ferry, bought new ticket but wrong month. Then tyres blew on the trailer, then the suspension went on it. Now their van is fucked. But they’re still going. Mental
Inst reel about what happened along the way. I don’t think they’ve added the bit where they are asking if anyone with a tow hook can come rescue them as they have 13 hours to get to the next tour spot. Mental!
And by the way my local bought some of those curbs and they are soooo good they just GO. You know what I mean? Super hard grind feel but grind easy
Yeah keen for that, any preference on what day?
An hour bike ride to get there is damn impressive! Well done. Keep meaning to post in MH thread but up against it at the moment and can only do quick posts.
dunno lemme speak to the missus and get clearance
car park again? i’m happy to bring all the stuffs
Don’t want to tread on clackers toes and butt in (more) here, but I saw this recently..
My decision to build it was 100% the result of watching a Keen vid about theirs, so no toe-stepping there. ![]()
Longest post ever incoming.

I tried to balance brevity with detail. Not sure I managed it but here you go…
You will need: a piece of plywood board (I went for L 1.22m, W 0.61m, T 18mm) for the two surfaces, a piece of coping (1.22m/4ft long if you’re going with those plywood dimensions) and three pieces of wood ~4ft in length (dimensions not too crucial - the sort of stuff you’d make the horizontals for under the surface of a quarter pipe with). Lastly another, smaller piece of plywood or board of decent thickness (maybe 12mm or more) for the forms.
Tools-wise I used a drill, various drill bits and a circular saw (though a jigsaw and old fashioned mitre saw would probably work too).
Cut the plywood sheet in half lengthways – that’s your two riding surfaces.
Next cut your forms. These need to be two matching be isosceles triangles. Mine were base ~49cms and height ~17cms. TIP 1: I didn’t get into measuring angles and the trigonometry of it all as the dimensions for all of this are pretty much dictated by/constrained by the width of the two ply surfaces.
TIP 2: Make sure the dimensions of your forms are the right size to allow your ply
riding surfaces to slightly extend beyond the base (see pic). You’ll tidy this up towards the very end.
TIP 3: After cutting the forms, clamp them one on top of the other and drill six pilot holes; two for each horizontal that you’ll be screwing in. Also carefully mark up the positions of the ends of the horizontals (see pic) by drawing round them.
Measure to make sure your markings are the same on both forms. Get this right and it’ll save you much grief later by keeping things square.
Use an appropriate size holesaw attachment for your drill to make a curved scoop in the apex point of your forms for your coping to sit in. You could also do this carefully with a jigsaw probably.
Once you’ve done all that, it’s mainly assembly. Screw your first form to your 3 horizontals, then repeat at the other end.
Drop your coping on. If it’s pre-drilled you’re good to go – screw it on to the middle horizontal (I did this in three places – close to either end and one in the middle). If coping’s not drilled already, use a larger HSS drill bit to put a hole in the top near to the end of the coping and then a smaller HSS bit for a hole directly underneath. This allows you to drop a screw into the top (larger) hole and get a screwdriver and screw in there to secure the coping to the wooden horizontal directly beneath. Repeat this drilling and screwing in the middle and at the other end. Structure done.
Then add the two ply surfaces. Butt them up against the coping and screw them to the horizontals. Countersink your screw holes to avoid any nasties poking up out of the surface. You should do this anywhere there are exposed screwheads tbh, but especially on the riding surface.
Lastly trim the bottoms of the plywood surfaces. I used a circular saw to carefully do this but a mitre handsaw would probably work. To do this, make sure your ramp is standing at 90 degrees (see pic).
Cut along the length of the surface where it will touch the floor to remove the excess ply.
Last step: stare wistfully at your shiny new obstacle whilst swearing vigorously at the BBC weather app night in, night out.
Had to scroll for ages to ‘like’ that. ![]()
I made a small kerb/box a few weeks back (still to be tested) but should have made one of these instead.
Wish I’d followed your link before posting ![]()
Is yours the one down The House? ![]()
Nah Rob built that. Anything in there’s got to be super heavy duty to withstand the abuse. Mine’s portable for car park sessions with mates. I think he built his bigger than mine and didn’t use forms, but not sure as I’ve not seen/skated the one he built yet.
Newport skaters have been riding these portable curbs a lot. I haven’t tried them but they reckon they’re great.
