Gone Skateboarding?

Well that’s a heavy reminder that skateboarding is fun and can still give me a sweet dopamine hit! My ankle is still mush did a few flip tricks but yer need to work on it. So glad I took my board with me.

Are there any strengthening exercises out there for ankles?

Quick google suggests yes but sometimes I’m not sure if they’re talking about skateboarders when saying skaters :man_shrugging:

I heard moonwalking everywhere does great things for you

Had a message on insta from David Yap saying to do the Alphabet when you get up, repeat every 5 hours.

Yeha I’d start with the big toe alphabet as a general recovery

Balance boards are really useful and there’s a wide variety of types

Standing heel raises are pretty good for low legs in general but you need to find some variety

Where is this?

Won’t be UK surely. Neddy is international these days

Yeah looks way too good for UK!

My geoguessr skills (and reverse image seach) say this is Vannes, France.

I skived off work yesterday and went to a ditch spot and 6 skateparks*. In the evening I almost squeezed in a car park curb session, but kids and traffic had other ideas.

Skated/hated only 4 of them. The other two were a defunct indoor bowl I tried to break into. The other was an indoor BMX/scooter orientated park and I refused to spend $22 to skate the mini ramp.

Couple of hours down the local. Landed another 360 flip whilst my legs were fresh. Go me.

Filmed a shit Ollie and a nice feeling 180 up the euro gap right before the park closed and when my legs were proper dead.

My sessions these days are literally turn up, skate for 2-3 hours continuously with drinks here and there, then go home. It’s starting not to hurt so much but has taken months. Mid 40’s innit :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Been debating doing a crete kicker up these for a while, Deeyo banged this together the other night as a tester. Very enjoyable !

How often do most people here skate? In my late 40s now and I like to try and skate twice a week but sometimes if the weather’s good and I haven’t got too much on I will go every day.

I skated most often in my teens, pretty much every day I wasn’t too hungover. In my 20s I used it as transport and while I did skate a lot I was probably more into chilling at the spot. I slowed down to once a week or so through my 30s due to being busy with other stuff.

Weirdly I could see me skating more in my 50s than I ever have before due to the urge to get it in while I can! I’m not there yet but would be interested to hear from anyone older if they are still skating much or if injuries have slowed you down. Also interested to hear from anyone who literally doesn’t skate at all and why that is, whether you could see yourself picking it up again.
