Is Richard D. James being a little bit irresponsible here?

I am fearful the government will role out laws and measures during the crisis which it won’t then remove afterwards, but so far the government has been very reluctant to turn restrictions on movement and exercise into law. There was a bit of a slapping down of police forces which were seen to be acting too harshly earlier in the week. Also, it’s not just governments who are saying we need to isolate. This advice is coming from medical professionals.

I don’t think they’d be able to get any new laws passed while we’re on lockdown to be honest. If they go back to business as usual to get them passed, everyone else will.

This is the kind of crap I’m seeing on my FB

You’d think that was tongue in cheek, I hoped it was, but the comments are full of it

My wife keeps asking why I don’t block these people but it’s almost a hobby watching this crap appear

I don’t know why these people are able to be so paranoid about this stupid shit when there’s a much more real fucking threat out there to be immediately worried about.

I’m generally very pragmatic and try to think in terms of science and data, and I’m starting to shit myself about me or those close to be getting sick. When the lockdown gets lifted (hopefully not too soon) I’ll be fucking scared to get back to normal life. Unless there’s a vaccine or something.

Maybe these idiots are just trying to distract themselves from the things they’re actually scared of because they’re too weak to acknowledge or face up to it.

Basically, the whole world is fucked up, always has been. I think these stupid conspiracy theories exist because, subconsciously, people don’t like living in reality and it’s easier to dwell on stuff that isn’t real rather than confronting real shit.

Same with religion, I doubt there are that many people that actually, truly, 100% believe. I think it’s a survival mechanism. Some way for people to distance themselves from the ugly world…

No doubt when you ask for facts and some proof other than some nut job of a Youtuber, they’ll all say you’re not ‘woke’ or whatever it is that you need to be to see all of this for what ‘it really is’.

100%. Occasionally I engage over the bullshit and there’s always a source that’s immediately discredited with a five second Google. I don’t know where they get it but some of them use this weird language style like “oh I read this WordPress blog and found this interesting climate change information, what do you guys think about this”. Its always inviting people into the conspiracy and questioning their thoughts on it. Some of it is really insidious

I think a lot of people are just extremely ignorant and simply lack the critical faculties to be able to determine which sources are more credible than others. Before Facebook etc. thrust issues about the world and politics into their faces they had almost no interest in any of it. So they just have no background at all. Completely clueless.

As soon as someone types MSM it’s a racing certainty that they’re too stupid to talk to. They’ll believe almost anything that confirms just what they reckon but has zero accountability and regard with the utmost suspiction anything from a source that might have built a reputation on integrity and also has something to lose by telling outright lies.

Mainstream media. Usually used supposedly to diminish the credbility of anything anyone links to that contains actual facts. i.e. the BBC etc. can never be trusted.

They seem to have arrived at the conclusion that sometimes newspapers and TV sometimes lie so therefore this means that they are always lying about everything. So anything in the MSM is almost certainly a lie as part of a cover up.

It’s definitely their narrative of the news and how it fits their agenda.

those were the days. can we go back to that?

My dad once told me that when TV went from black and white to colour, everybody believed the colour stuff. “It’s in colour, so it must be true”. I think old people are like that now… “It wouldn’t be allowed on the internet if it wasn’t true!”

So many people on Facebook talking making unfounded claims of how “this must be more than just the virus”, without much of a solid basis on what that actually might be or why. People seem to have forgotten that disease pandemics have been going on since literally the beginning of human history, but this time it’s obviously a big ploy by the government to install 5G and remove tariffs on China

This explains it so well
