Been verified now. What a fucking shit show. Who knows what happens next.

Fucking hell it’s proper kicking off isn’t it. Ukraine liberating places that have been under Russian control for years while they panic about Wagner. Wagner taking potshots at Russian helicopters. Going be an interesting 24 hours.

Meanwhile in Stone…

Does make you wonder what the endgame is here. Prigozhin has been Putin’s right hand man for years, and he has obviously reaped copious rewards for that service. Wagner have essentially been conducting proxy wars at Putin’s behest for what, 15 years or more? Just makes me wonder if this is yet another Russian false flag or galaxy-brained double bluff.

Most likely scenario is that the teat Progozhin has been suckling on has dried up (urgh) and he’s throwing a temper tantrum, but geopolitics has been so impenetrably fucking mental over the last few years I just don’t know if the simplest and most likely explanation is guaranteed.

Looks like they have called off the coup and they’re all friends again. So it probably was about money, huh?

Not sure what the deal involved apart from him fucking off to Belarus but I wouldn’t be trusting a pinkie promise from Putin not to Novichok him.

Well that was a lot down. Had hoped the orcs would eat each other at least for a few days

Well there’s Putin reaching straight into his Polonium-210 cabinet this weekend after that deal .

If this doesn’t do it, I don’t know what will

What a joke.

Heard they’re on the brink of financial collapse this morning. Whichever bright-spark decided to privatise water supply wants generational malaise heaping on them. Quite how you manage to end up in Ā£14billion in debt whilst providing an essential product to a captive customer base of 1/4 of the population of the UK is beyond me. All you have to do is not be completely shit and you’d live like Scrooge McDuck.

Actually I’d bet it’s the people who run it at the top living like Scrooge McDuck that’s the problem, thinking about it for more than 10 seconds.

That was Thatcher. It was covered pretty well in that Our Troubled Waters series.

That’s exactly it, instead of reinvesting profits, the whole lot is skimmed off to line people’s pockets. When those stop being satisfactory, they sell the company on. The person/people buying the company can’t afford it, so leverage it with debt and then immediately transfer the debt to the company. From there it’s a spiral.

As you say, when the bailout comes, the people who caused it will ride off into the sunset with a little severance package and end up on the board of some other company and do the same. The cost for government will be passed on to the taxpayers, and when the (tory, in this case) government has got it levelled out and running as it should, it’ll be sold on to a mate for peanuts and the whole cycle begins again.
