Youâre okay, think this one is mostly on Maggie Thatcher.
Iv been trying to pay Thames Water for 6 months. But they keep trying to make me pay massive estimated bills which I refuse to - try and speak to them itâs impossible.
My bad.
Still canât get my head round the privatisation of water. Itâs big business for the Welsh Government because we have a lot of rain and reservoirs here in Wales. I believe each private water company pays the government to supply them with water from reservoirs (or rivers), then they have to process it and supply the water to their customers, and collect the waste water through the sewage system, process it again, and put it back.
All this takes loads of regulation and reporting because even though itâs privatised each water company has a total monopoly. You canât switch provider. Also, we all pay for the water collection infrastructure through taxes, yet we pay for the distribution from our taxed pay? Itâs a rip off for the consumer. If it all came from taxation weâd be better off.
I just canât see why itâs better to have it privatised? But yeah, as MarkG says itâs another Thatcher innovation like breaking up and privatising the rest of the utilities.

Well I can receive dividends if I add water stocks to my pension I suppose. In theory everyone who works and has a pension can receive dividends from privatised companies.
But you are still worse off because you are paying for an essential good with pay that you have already been taxed on. itâs not like water is a luxury.

Internet should be as much a public service as water, gas, electricity etc.
try raising kids through public school system without access to the internet

Insane that the police are shooting people for traffic offences, lying about what happened, and then responding to the reaction with more violence and authoritarianism. So many parallels with what has happened in Cardiff and other places.

Spoke to my mate Leo who has been in Paris on and off over the past couple of weeks and he reported seeing and hearing nothing about it. Heâs been hanging out with Pharell Williams behind the gilded curtain at Louis Vuitton so not surprised really.
