The UAE building a city (Dubai) with no sewers and now having bad flooding because they didn’t account for climate change is the perfect schadenfreude for me. the Middle East mega powers will continue to fund anti-green policies all over the world and now their chickens are coming home to roost
What else can you say about all that. Mental.
Sex, drugs and a drunk dog
Nice.
Menzies, then 42, resigned as a ministerial aide but insisted that some of the allegations were untrue and claimed he would be “setting the record straight in due course”. He has not held a ministerial role since.
Hmm.
The constituency borders Blackpool South, where the former Conservative MP Scott Benton recently resigned after he was exposed by The Times offering to lobby ministers in exchange for money.
You start to wonder if there’s any area of this party which is competent or fit to rule.
How does someone earning nearly £100k a year not have £5k in the bank?
Because he’s in the chemsex scene? I know someone who was into it (probably still is tbh) and your life goes verrrrrry south verrrrry quickly.
Haha, he’s obviously spending it all on getting fucked out of his face, Brazilian rent boys and befriending baddies
Hang on though - what about that red haired teen mum and her council house?
You’d be amazed, I dated a girl pulling over 100k and she had no savings, no plan, month to month living and buying shiny things all the time
between 100k - 120k you’ll be paying higher tax percentage on your wage than people high earn considerably more or considerably less than you. unless you’re a very responsible person you’ll probably go for a larger house, nicer car, nicer stuff, luxurious holidays.
credit card companies will fall over themselves to give you huge limits because you’re their perfect rube. then you’ll be paying off a lot of debt constantly.
it’s not that much money at all if you’re the kind of person who thinks it’s a lot of money (ie. it goes quickly)
iirc she was clearing nearly 10k a month, after tax. and this was like 10 years ago!

oh thats much more than 100k a year, that’s 200k+. i wonder if she splashed a lot of it investing though? i know a fair few people on 100k+ who don’t really save money per se but instead invest anything left over each month
Saving cash that you have paid income tax on is only for emergencies really because it’s an expensive way to save and invest. Not only have you paid the income tax, but you will have to pay CGT on any profits too.
Most people earning that much will invest the maximum ISA and Pension contribution each year so that their savings are pre-tax and don’t count towards CGT.
Still, if you have £10k a month after tax that means your pension and ISA has already come out, so not having any cash savings at all is quite impressively DGAF.
I’m very frivolous with money and not trying to be snobby as I know 5k is a lot of money to most people, me included, but also not a large enough amount that it won’t disappear quickly. Once my redundancy pay ran out last year I lived in my savings for 6 months. Add on to that a new boiler, I know how fast your account empties haha.
I guess if you’re on 100k a month and you get a big expenditure - car, roof, boiler etc - it’s not that long to wait before money comes in to cover it.
i guess my point is more that for a lot of people the outgoings rapidly grow to meet the incomings. movies, TV, instagram etc definitely sells this notion that if you feel you’re making mega bucks then you should be splashing it on the lifestyle appropriate to your status.
A couple of nice cars on finance would reduce that wage down considerably.
exactly
and again. if you’re a responsible person it’s perfectly possible to travel the world with your family, have a nice house etc and still have money. just for a lot of people they wanna ball so hard etc etc
‘Spending money like a fish’ as my dad would say.
Which makes absolutely zero sense, and isn’t a saying, but you get the sentiment
No matter what I earn I’ll be shit with money. Not even ballin’ either, it just disappears as quickly as it arrives
