Trust me i get how the idea works. Just trying to argue against it for no reason except the concept is annoying.
Do you think an infinite number of monkeys on skateboards, one would recreate gonz’ section in video days while another plays Coltrane?

There is a parallel universe where no-one has fast forwarded Jordan Richter’s part in Video Days.
That’s probably why she wrote in hieroglyphics. Because they’re basically emojis, right?
Which also brings me to the one major flaw with the infinite monkey theory. Because you can’t even buy typewriters any more, except old reconditioned ones. And the monkeys would all be on their phones instead, texting each other pictures of their bananas.
I’d like to see Jean-Paul Sartre explain that.
Since this has turned into a bit of a fun facts thread of late: Monkeys don’t eat bananas in the wild. The bananas in the wild are nothing like the ones we’ve cultivated and sweetened.
What an absolute clusterfuck.
For context on the projected cost, if you received £100 a second, it would take you 31.7 years to hit the £100billion that HS2 is going to end up costing. It will probably go up in cost over the years too.
Should’ve been cancelled long ago, it might be the best thing ever when it’s built but the delays and rising costs just got silly.
At this stage it’s pretty much just going to run between London and Brum if I am understanding correctly.
It’s reducing the 1 hour 20 minute journey to 50 minutes. Maybe it’s incredibly naive of me, but it’s such been such a huge fuck up and large amount of money for a half hour saving.
And you known it’ll get spinned into somehow being Labours fault
Will they be able to upgrade it easier for faster and faster trains in the future though? That has to be the plan, and add more track, right? Or what is the fucking point?
It’s fucking astronomical to ride the train now anyway. Looked into getting the train to Notts for a wedding so we could maybe have a celebratory drink and it was nearly £40 each for a less than 40 mile journey. It used to be less than a fiver to go to Notts to skate years ago.
You just can’t get a last minute train for a decent price anymore. Same as flights. Everything is algorithmed to fuck for profit.
Massive cash extraction again again again
Either total incompetence or criminal act
NHS delays another good one
Let’s hope he’s on it
I was invited to listen to Jacinda Ardern talk last night (who is on a world tour promoting her book) and she mentioned the recent results of a global survey, the Edelman Trust Barometer, showed that there is a profound lack of trust in politicians and governments and greater grievance held towards leadership which honestly I can understand.
However what shocked me the most and makes me very not stoked is that the survey revealed a majority of 18-39 yr old (Gen Z) feel it’s ok to use aggression and misinformation to generate change. I’ve long thought that Gen Z are of the majority nihilistic because they don’t see a future for themselves so why bother? Even though, at the polar opposite end I have a glimmer of hope that Gen Z will strive to get rid of the old ways and push harder for a brighter future.
Reading and hearing these survey results makes me feel like they are not heading in the right direction.
Here are a couple of links and a video regarding the issue.

Another couple of points Jacinda made which held some weight for me was that people tend to believe change only comes from those in power or politics. She used the metaphor of a football match where the politicians decide how long or fast the game is played, how scores work etc when in fact the people are also on the pitch and can also make decisions. I think what she was alluding to was that the general public has greater power than they think and that the role of politicians is to serve the people. I see this playing out in America where it shows that the more people start actively protesting against Trump and his authoritarian/nu-fascist regime, they might actually manage to create the change that’s needed.
The other point she made that when she decided to quit being Prime Minister, she asked herself if it was responsible for her to carry on in the position? I feel like this should probably be mandatory for anyone in a leadership role. Unfortunately, people at the top feel they have a duty to maintain their position or are influenced to believe they must maintain their position.
Anyway, food for thought.
Im not surprised, nothing else works does it?
Remember the LA peaceful demonstration?
So many people are just wilfully lazy and fucking stupid. They assume the position that all politicians are evil and all politics is pointless because it means they don’t have to bother to engage.
At the recent Trump birthday/military/dictator parade he made everyone do, where hardly anyone turned up, I heard reports of somewhere between 1% and 2% of Americans came out on to the streets to protest him (the ‘No Kings’ protest). It might not sound a lot but it actually is. Over 2,100 different protests nationwide, that went off very peacefully for the size of it too.
